ABSTRAK
Raja Pedaging merupakan suatu kategori yang diharapkan menjadi sebuah
acuan pengembangan Domba Garut yang tidak hanya dipergunakan sebagai
domba standar kontes, tetapi juga menjadi domba penghasil daging yang potensial
dalam memenuhi kebutuhan daging di Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di
Universitas Padjadjaran bertepatan dengan kegiatan kontes ternak Jawa Barat
2013. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui sifat-sifat kuantitatif meliputi bobot
badan, panjang badan, lingkar dada, tinggi pundak, lebar dada, dalam dada, dan
lingkar pinggang Domba Garut kategori Raja Pedaging peserta kontes ternak
tingkat Jawa Barat 2013 . Objek penelitian adalah Domba Garut jantan peserta
kontes ternak tingkat Jawa Barat 2013 pada kategori Raja Pedaging. Penelitian
menggunakan metode sensus. Teknik pengumpulan data mengambil data primer
dengan pengukuran langsung terhadap ukuran-ukuran tubuh seluruh peserta dan
ditunjang dengan hasil wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Rataan bobot
badan (84,24 ± 9,47 kg), panjang badan (83,04 ± 5,07 cm), lingkar dada (102,39 ±
4,49) cm, tinggi pundak (81,27 ± 1,69cm), lebar dada (22 ± 0,76 cm) dalam dada
(37,18 ± 2,18 cm), dan lingkar pinggang (18 ± 6,31 cm).

ABSTRACT
Meat category is expected to be a reference for the development of the
Garut Sheep who not only used as a standard sheep contest but also the lamb
meat-producing potential in meeting the needs of meat in Indonesia. This research
was carried out at the University of Padjadjaran coincide with the activities of
livestock in West Java contest 2013. The purpose of research to determine the
quantitative traits include body weight, body length, chest circumference, height
of the shoulder, width of the chest, in the chest, and waist circumference in Garut
Sheep meat category flocks contest participants level of West Java 2013. The
object of the research was the Garut Sheep male livestock contest participants
level of West Java 2013 on the meat category. Research using the method of
census. Techniques of data gathering primary data with the measurements taken
directly against the body measurements of participants and is supported with the
results of the interview. The results showed body weight Equivalent (84.24 ± 9.47
kg), body length (83.04 ± 5.07 cm) chest circumference (102.39 ± 4.49) cm, the
height of the shoulders (81.27 ± 1.69cm), the width of the chest (22 ± 0.76
centimeters) in the chest (37.18 ± 2.18 cm) and waist circumference (18 ± 6.31
cm).
