Abstrak
Majas selama ini dianalisis berdasarkan teori retorika yang merupakan ilmu
kepidatoan, akan tetapi dalam linguistik kognitif majas digunakan sebagai sentral
penelitian terutama dalam pemilihan kosakata. Penelit ian in i bertujuan untuk
menganalisis penggunaan majas dalam karya literatur berdasarkan teori linguistik
kognitif. Majas yang dibahas mencakup metafora, metonimi dan sinekdoke.
Analisis mencakup mengidentifikasi jenis dan hubungan yang terdapat dalam
majas-majas tersebut.
Hasil penelitian menunju kan fungsi majas yang bersifat lebih aktual dan krusial
dalam karya literatur. Tidak hanya digunakan untuk membangun suasana dalam
sebuah kalimat tetapi yang paling penting adalah digunakan untuk mengekspresikan
konsep yang abstrak dan asing.

Abstract
Figure of speech generally is analy zed as part of the rhetoric theory, but
within cognitive linguistics the figure of speech is a central concept in its research
especially when choosing which word should use. This research analyzes the usage
of figure of speech in daily life using the cognitive linguistic theories. The figure of
speech includes metaphor, metonymy and synecdoche. The analysis covers the
identification of each figure of speech and their respective relations.
The results of this research show that figure of speech has a more actual
and crucial role in daily life. Not only can it be used to build a certain nuance in a
sentence but also a more important role of exp ressin g an abstract and foreign
concept.
