Partisipasi Politik Mahasiswa dalam Pemilihan Umum Presiden Mahasiswa UPI
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kenyataan bahwa dalam pemilihan umum presiden
dan wakil presiden Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Republik Mahasiswa Universitas
Pendidikan Indonesia dalam beberapa tahun terakhir hanya diikuti oleh kurang dari
separuh jumlah mahasiswa sebagai pemilih. Pemilihan umum yang dilakukan tetap
diikuti oleh sebagian mahasiswa mengisyaratkan bahwa dalam proses hajat demokrasi di
kampus sebagai salah satu bentuk partisipasi politik, memilii berbagai dimensi faktor
yang melatarbelakangi mahasiswa untuk memilih atau tidak memilih. Penelitian ini
bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang menjadi penentu dan mempengaruhi sikap
politik mahasiswa sebagai pemilih dalam pemilihan umum. Pendekatan penelitian ini
adalah kualitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Temuan penelitian ini adalah: 1)
pemilihan umum diikuti oleh tidak lebih dari setengah jumlah mahasiswa 2) selalu
ditemukan indikasi kecurangan dalam pemilu serta gugatan ketidakpuasan terhadap hasil
pemilu 3) sosialisasi yang dilakukan kebanyakan masih bersifat konvensional dan kurang
mengikuti arus perkembangan teknologi, kebanyakan dilakukan dengan sosialisasi
langsung 4) banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi sikap pemilih terhadap pemilihan umum
baik yang berasal dari dalam diri pemilih (faktor internal) maupun dari luar (faktor
eksternal). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) Dalam tiga tahun terakhir,
pelaksanaan pemilihan umum tidak mengalami perkembangan yang signifikan dalam segi
partisipasi pemilih yang relatif rendah; 2) Sosialisasi yang dilakukan oleh KPU REMA
UPI terhadap mahasiswa melalui sosialisasi langsung dan tidak langsung; 3) Faktorfaktor yang mempengaruhi mahasiswa untuk menggunakan hak pilih yang terdiri atas
empat yakni kesadaran politik, kepentingan individu dan kelompok, mobilisasi pemilih
dan faktor lingkungan serta faktor determinan yang mendasari mahasiswa tidak
menggunakan hak pilihnya ada tiga faktor yakni sikap tidak percaya terhadap REMA,
sikap apatis mahasiswa serta pengetahuan tentang pemilu yang rendah; 4) Solusi yang
dapat ditawarkan dalam upaya peningkatan partisipasi mahasiswa dalam pemilu
mencakup empat hal yakni memformulasikan model sosialisasi dan kampanye yang tepat,
REMA harus kembali membangun kepercayaan mahasiswa dengan program-program
yang populis dan inklusif, menjalin kerja sama antara BEM REMA dengan himpunan,
senat dan UKM sebagai upaya harmonisasi, para aktivis mahasiswa dan pihak kampus
harus bahu-membahu dalam memberikan penyadaran terhadap mahasiswa terutama
mahasiswa apatis dan peningkatan fasilitas untuk mahasiswa dalam melakukan
aktualisasi diri dalam kegiatan-kegiatan organisasi kemahasiswaan.

Political Participation In the Election of University Students’ President in Indonesia
University of Education (UPI).
This research is founded by the fact that in the election of university student’ president
and vice president REMA UPI, the participation of the student has only been participated
by less than half of the total students in UPI. The election that is held signifies that the
democratic even in campus is a form political participation, selecting several dimensions
of factors wich are founded the student to choose or not to choose in an election. This
research has the aim to uncover the factors that determine and affect students’ political
stance and participation as a voter in one election. This research uses the qualitative
approach with analytical descriptive method. The findings of this research are : 1) the
election is not entirely partaken by more than a half of the total students: 2) indication of
cheating has always been found in the election and there is always complains of
dissatisfaction about the election: 3) the socialization done mostly still conventional and
is not following the current technological development, most of the time the socialization
is done directly; 4) there are so many factors that’s affect the perspective of the voters
towards the election whether it is an internal factors or external factors. the result of this
research are : 1) in three years, the election hasn’t been developing in voters’
participation, which is fairly low; 2) the socialization done by KPU REMA UPI towards
the students is done directly and in directly; 3) Factors affecting the students to use their
right to vote are established on four principles : political consciousness, individual and
group interest, voters mobilization, and environmental factors, also three determinant
factors that is founding the students non-participation are the distrust towards REMA
UPI, apathy and low knowledge about election; 4) the solution offered in increasing
students’ olitical participation include four things : formulating the right socialization and
campaign model, REMA UPI should build a trust to the students through inclusive and
populis way, creating a relationship between BEM REMA UPI and students association,
students senate ant UKM as an effort of harmonization, students-activists along with the
campus should give contribution to erase students apathy and increase facility for
students to actualize themselves in organizations.

yang melatarbelakangi mahasiswa untuk memilih atau tidak memilih. Penelitian ini
bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang menjadi penentu dan mempengaruhi sikap
politik mahasiswa sebagai pemilih dalam pemilihan umum. Pendekatan penelitian ini

baik yang berasal dari dalam diri pemilih (faktor internal) maupun dari luar (faktor
eksternal). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) Dalam tiga tahun terakhir,
pelaksanaan pemilihan umum tidak mengalami perkembangan yang signifikan dalam segi
partisipasi pemilih yang relatif rendah; 2) Sosialisasi yang dilakukan oleh KPU REMA
UPI terhadap mahasiswa melalui sosialisasi langsung dan tidak langsung; 3) Faktorfaktor yang mempengaruhi mahasiswa untuk menggunakan hak pilih yang terdiri atas
empat yakni kesadaran politik, kepentingan individu dan kelompok, mobilisasi pemilih
dan faktor lingkungan serta faktor determinan yang mendasari mahasiswa tidak
menggunakan hak pilihnya ada tiga faktor yakni sikap tidak percaya terhadap REMA,
sikap apatis mahasiswa serta pengetahuan tentang pemilu yang rendah; 4) Solusi yang
dapat ditawarkan dalam upaya peningkatan partisipasi mahasiswa dalam pemilu
mencakup empat hal yakni memformulasikan model sosialisasi dan kampanye yang tepat,
