Abstract
One of the latest sources of information in libraries is printed articles from various
scientific journals. It is highly essential to apply a search tool through article index to
optimize the usage of the information. This study aims to show library user needs
toward article index as a means of printed journals search tool. The research is

conducted in Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana’s University Library using
descriptive quantitative method. 28,1% out of the total 271 respondent highly agrees
that library user needed it, 52% of them concur the need of article index. This data is

amplified by library user suggestion data which shows that 19,5% approved the
necessity of article index, and 66% of the respondents are in line article index needs.

Abstrak
Salah satu sumber informasi mutakhir di perpustakaan adalah artikel jurnal tercetak
dari berbagai jurnal/ majalah ilmiah. Agar sumber informasi tersebut dimanfaatkan
secara maksimal diperlukan sarana penelusuran berupa penyediaan indeks artikel.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebutuhan pemustaka terhadap indeks
artikel sebagai sarana menelusur artikel jurnal tercetak. Penelitian ini dilakukan di
Perpustakaan Universitas – Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana. Penelitian ini
menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif. Dari responden 271 orang, 28,1%
menjawab sangat setuju pemustaka membutuhkan daftar indeks artikel jurnal,
responden sebesar 52% menjawab setuju responden membutuhkan daftar indeks
artikel jurnal. Data ini diperkuat data saran pemustaka, responden sebesar 19,5%
menjawab sangat setuju indeks artikel dibutuhkan, responden sebesar 66% menjawab
setuju indeks artikel dibutuhkan.
