  ABSTRACT

This study is aimed to reveal the establishing of Marcus Luttrell’s persepective as an American toward Afghanistan. The object of the study, the perspectives of Luttrell which deals with three aspects namely dialectical thought, western subjectivity, and postcolonial personalism using postcolonial autobiography approach. This research is qualitative research. The types of data sources of the study are: primary and secondary sources. The primary data sourcesare taken from the novel : Lone survivor written by Marcus Luttrell with Patrick Robinson in 2007. While the secondary data sources are other materials taken from literary books, criticism, journal articles and internet related to the study. Both of the data are collected through library research and analyzed by descriptive-qualitative analysis. Based on the data analysis, the results are that Marcus Luttrell wants to show his perspective as the result of the dialectical thought as an American who survived in the war between Afghanistan and America. From such perspective, it arises the objective view to deny the western subjectivity about postcolonialism in general, and supported by the postcolonial personalism through the experiences of Luttrell after war.
