ABSTRACT

STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION TOWARDS ENGLISH TEACHER QUALITY

(A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON XI GRADE STUDENTS OF SMK

MUHAMMADIYAH 1 PURWOKERTO IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2016/2017)

  REZA PAHLEVI 1201050098

  ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the perceptions of XI grade students towards

  English teacher quality at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto. The study on students' perceptions towards English teacher quality is categorized by four competencies that must be owned by the teacher. According to Permendiknas No. 16 2007, the four competencies are pedagogical competence, professional competence, personal competence and social competence. This research is a descriptive research which questionnaire and interview used as instruments. To analyze the data of questionnaire the researcher used percentage and to analyze the data of interview the researcher used technique from Miles and Hubberman. Respondents in this study are 25% students of XI grade students. The total is 45 students. The results obtained from students' perceptions towards English teacher quality in aspect of pedagogical competence, the category is very good with percentage 76%. In aspect of professional competence, the category is good with percentage 68%. In aspect of personal competence, the category is very good with percentage 85%. In aspect of social competence, the category is very good with percentage 84%.
