International Trade APINDO conducts International Trade Forum
“Addressing non-tariff barriers to maximize Indonesia trade potential”

Jakarta, 26 January 2016. With the agenda to address information gap among members by assessing the evidence on the
reality of Indonesia position in International trade, the forum aims to address the following issues such as: the common NTBs
issues of Indonesia in international trade, the best practice of trade activities to deal with non-tariff barriers and future
strategic plan in maximizing Indonesia trade negotiations; this included comprehensive explanation on trade initiatives and
progress, and some critical issues to Indonesia’s business sector. Speakers of the forum are Mrs. Intan Soeparna, Airlangga
Institute of International Law Study and Dr. Zakiyah, National Standardization Agency, and Mrs. Netty Muharni, Coordinating

Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) are policy measures, other than ordinary customs tariffs, that can potentially have an economic
effect on international trade in goods, changing quantities traded, or prices or both. NTMs encompass all measures altering the
conditions of international trade, including policies and regulations that restrict trade and those that facilitate it. NTMs are
often incorrectly referred to as non-tariff barriers (NTBs). However, the difference between NTMs and NTBs is NTMs comprise

a wider set of measures than NTBs, which are now generally intended only as discriminatory non-tariff measures imposed by
Governments to favour domestic over foreign suppliers. For complete review, please click HERE

KJRI Shanghai courtesy to International Trade APINDO & IPC
Jakarta, 3 February 2017. International Trade Department and International Partnership
Center (IPC) received a courtesy visit from Consulate General of The Republic of Indonesia in
Shanghai (KJRI Shanghai). KJRI Shanghai requested for a cooperation from APINDO to involve in
the Indonesia Festival (InaFest) 2017 which will be held in Shanghai on 20-26 May 2017. This
program is an initial cooperation from the KJRI Shanghai, Changning District, and Indonesia
Chamber of Commerce in China (INACHAM). The purpose of the program is to promote Trade,
Tourism and Investment and also Indonesian culture in Shanghai. KJRI Shanghai warmly invites
APINDO to be part of Indonesia Infrastructure Investment Forum on 24 May 2017. This courtesy is
also to maintain APINDO relations to ministry of foreign affairs while at the same time to
familiarize the ministry with programs in International Trade department.
