Development of common requirements and conformity assessment
procedures for ASEAN Member Countries
I. Background information
Based on the Report of the Third WB PWG meeting, held in Bangkok on December
2005, Member Countries are requested to consult with their relevant authorities in
selecting and prioritize standards for harmonization of specific category products for (i)
Panel products, (ii) Sawn timber, and (iii) Flooring Products, and afterward to provide
comments to Indonesia.
To follow up the above decision, Indonesia has circulated List of International Standards
for Harmonization in Wood Based Sector which has referred to results of The 16th
meeting of ACCSQ WG1 on Standards and MRAs, for input by Member Countries.
II. Progress report
Updated status has been received from the following ASEAN members countries :
1. Malaysia :
The information paper from Malaysia as enclosed.
III. Recommendation
The meeting may take note the information provided by Malaysia. Member Countries
may update their status on the above matter during the meeting.
Other members countries which has not sent yet their response to Indonesia, urged to
send it as soon as possible for data compilation.
