ABSTRAK

Teknologi wireless adalah teknologi yang sangat berkembang akhir-akhir ini. Hal ini dikarenakan kepraktisan yang ditawarkan oleh teknologi wireless yang tidak memerlukan kabel untuk koneksinya. Teknologi ini dapat diterapkan dalam berbagai aplikasi seperti telepon wireless, sistem central lock pada mobil, mainan remote control, dan masih banyak aplikasi lain yang digunakan untuk kepentingan pelayanan.

Pada Tugas Akhir ini, dirancang satu aplikasi teknologi wireless untuk keperluan pelayanan di tempat-tempat umum khususnya di restoran yang disebut dengan wireless service bell. Pada dasarnya sistem ini terdiri dari dua bagian utama yaitu perangkat pengirim dan penerima. Sistem yang dirancang terdiri dari banyak pengirim dan hanya satu penerima saja. Masing-masing perangkat pengirim akan mengirimkan informasi berupa alamat (yang berfungsi untuk membedakan perangkat pengirim yang satu dengan yang lain) dan data (yang berfungsi untuk membedakan pelayanan yang diminta, seperti meminta bill, menu, air, dsb.) yang dipicu melalui penekanan salah satu push button yang tersedia. Ketika push-button ditekan informasi (alamat dan data) akan dikodekan kemudian dikirimkan ke perangkat pengirim, yang selanjutnya akan ditransmisikan menggunakan gelombang radio 315MHz dengan modulasi ASK (Amplitude Shift Keying). Informasi yang dikirimkan akan diterima oleh perangkat penerima kemudian akan didekodekan untuk mendapatkan informasi sesungguhnya yang dikirimkan berupa alamat dan data. Selanjutnya informasi ini akan diolah oleh mikrokontroler Atmega16 untuk ditampilkan pada perangkat keluaran berupa LCD dan komputer.

Berdasarkan percobaan yang dilakukan, sistem wireless service bell yang dirancang berhasil direalisasikan dengan persentase keberhasilan 100% selama sistem masih berada di dalam batas jangkauan antenna. Jarak maksimum yang dapat dicapai di tempat terbuka (tidak ada halangan) adalah 30.6m dan di tempat tertutup (ada benda-benda pengahalang) adalah 15.2m.

ABSTRACT

Now days, wireless technology is a highly developed technology. This is due to the practicality offered by wireless technology that does not require the use of wires. This technology can be applied in various applications such as wireless telephones, central lock system on cars, remote control for toys, and many other applications that are used for the benefit of the service.

In this final project, a wireless technology application will be designed for service in public places, especially in a restaurant which is called wireless service bell. Basically this system consists of two main parts: transmitter and receiver. The designed system consists of many transmitters and one receiver. Each transmitters will send the information in the form of address (which serves to distinguish the individual senders) and data (which serves to distinguish the requested services, such as requesting a bill, menu, water, etc..) that is triggered through suppression of one push-buttons. When the push-button is pressed, the information (address and data) will be encoded and then sent to the transmitter, which would then be transmitted using radio waves 315MHz with ASK (Amplitude Shift Keying) modulation. The information sent will be received by the receiver, then will be decoded to get the real information that is sent in the form of address and data. Further, the information will be processed by the microcontroller ATmega16 to be displayed on 2 output devices : LCD and computer.

Based on the experiments that have been conducted, the system which is designed for wireless service bell can be realized successfully with the successful percentage of 100% as long as the system is still inside the limit range of the antenna. The maximum distance that can be reached outdoors (without obstacle) is 30.6m and indoors (with multiple blocking objects) is 15.2m.

General Description

The 212decoders are a series of CMOS LSIs for remote control system applications. They are paired with Holtek¢s 212series of encoders (re-fer to the encoder/decoder cross re(re-ference ta-b l e ) . F o r p r o p e r o p e r a t i o n , a p a i r o f encoder/decoder with the same number of ad-dresses and data format should be chosen. The decoders receive serial addresses and data from a programmed 212series of encoders that are transmitted by a carrier using an RF or an IR transmission medium. They compare the se-rial input data three times continuously with

their local addresses. If no error or unmatched codes are found, the input data codes are de-coded and then transferred to the output pins. The VT pin also goes high to indicate a valid transmission.

The 212series of decoders are capable of decod-ing informations that consist of N bits of ad-dress and 12-N bits of data. Of this series, the HT12D is arranged to provide 8 address bits and 4 data bits, and HT12F is used to decode 12 bits of address information.

Functional Description

Operation

The 212series of decoders provides various com-binations of addresses and data pins in differ-ent packages so as to pair with the 212series of encoders.

The decoders receive data that are transmitted by an encoder and interpret the first N bits of code period as addresses and the last 12-N bits as data, where N is the address code number. A signal on the DIN pin activates the oscillator which in turn decodes the incoming address and data. The decoders will then check the re-ceived address three times continuously. If the received address codes all match the contents of the decoder¢s local address, the 12-N bits of data are decoded to activate the output pins and the VT pin is set high to indicate a valid transmission. This will last unless the address code is incorrect or no signal is received. The output of the VT pin is high only when the transmission is valid. Otherwise it is always low.

Output type

Of the 212series of decoders, the HT12F has no data output pin but its VT pin can be used as a momentary data output. The HT12D, on the other hand, provides 4 latch type data pins whose data remain unchanged until new data are received.

General Description

The 212encoders are a series of CMOS LSIs for remote control system applications. They are capable of encoding information which consists of N address bits and 12-N data bits. Each ad-dress/data input can be set to one of the two logic states. The programmed addresses/data are transmitted together with the header bits

via an RF or an infrared transmission medium upon receipt of a trigger signal. The capability to select a TE trigger on the HT12E or a DATA trigger on the HT12A further enhances the ap-plication flexibility of the 212series of encoders. The HT12A additionally provides a 38kHz car-rier for infrared systems.

Functional Description Operation

The 212series of encoders begin a 4-word transmission cycle upon receipt of a transmission enable (TE for the HT12E or D8~D11 for the HT12A, active low). This cycle will repeat itself as long as the transmission enable (TE or D8~D11) is held low. Once the transmission enable returns high the en-coder output completes its final cycle and then stops as shown below.

Information word

If L/MB=1 the device is in the latch mode (for use with the latch type of data decoders). When the trans-mission enable is removed during a transtrans-mission, the DOUT pin outputs a complete word and then stops. On the other hand, if L/MB=0 the device is in the momentary mode (for use with the momentary type of data decoders). When the transmission enable is removed during a transmission, the DOUT outputs a complete word and then adds 7 words all with the²1²data code.

An information word consists of 4 periods as illustrated below.

The address/data bits of the HT12A are transmitted with a 38kHz carrier for infrared remote con-troller flexibility.

Address/data programming (preset)

The status of each address/data pin can be individually pre-set to logic²high²or²low². If a transmis-sion-enable signal is applied, the encoder scans and transmits the status of the 12 bits of ad-dress/data serially in the order A0 to AD11 for the HT12E encoder and A0 to D11 for the HT12A encoder.

During information transmission these bits are transmitted with a preceding synchronization bit. If the trigger signal is not applied, the chip enters the standby mode and consumes a reduced current of less than 1mA for a supply voltage of 5V.

Usual applications preset the address pins with individual security codes using DIP switches or PCB wiring, while the data is selected by push buttons or electronic switches.

Transmission enable

For the HT12E encoders, transmission is enabled by applying a low signal to the TE pin. For the HT12A encoders, transmission is enabled by applying a low signal to one of the data pins D8~D11.

The NE555 monolithic timing circuit is a highly stable controller capableof producing accuratetime delays or oscillation. In the time delay mode of operation, the time is precisely controlled by one external re-sistor and capacitor.For a stableoperation as an os-cillator, the free running frequency and the duty cy-cle are both accurately controlled with two external resistors and one capacitor. MONOSTABLE OPERATION

In the monostable mode, the timer functions as a one-shot. Referring to figure 10 the external capaci-tor is initially held discharged by a transiscapaci-tor inside the timer.

The circuit triggers on a negative-going input signal when the level reaches 1/3 Vcc. Once triggered, the circuit remains in this state until the set time has elapsed, even if it is triggered again during this in-terval.The duration of the output HIGH stateis given by t = 1.1 R1C1and is easily determined by

figure 12.

Notice that since the charge rate and the threshold level of the comparator are both directly proportional to supply voltage, the timing interval is independent of supply. Applying a negativepulse simultaneously to the reset terminal (pin 4) and the trigger terminal (pin 2) during the timing cycle discharges the exter-nal capacitor and causes the cycle to start over. The timing cycle now starts on the positive edge of the reset pulse. During the time the reset pulse in ap-plied, the output is driven to its LOW state. When a negativetrigger pulse is applied to pin 2, the flip-flop is set, releasing the short circuit across the external capacitor and driving the output HIGH. The voltage across the capacitor increases exponen-tially with the time constantτ= R1C1. When the

volt-age across the capacitor equals 2/3 Vcc, the

compa-rator resets the flip-flop which then discharge the ca-pacitor rapidly and drivers the output to its LOW state.

Figure 11 shows the actual waveforms generatedin this mode of operation.

When Reset is not used, it should be tied high to avoid any possibly or false triggering.

ASTABLE OPERATION

When the circuit is connected as shown in figure 13 (pin 2 and 6 connected)it triggers itself and free runs as a multivibrator. The external capacitor charges through R1and R2and discharges through R2only.

Thus the duty cycle may be precisely set by the ratio of these two resistors.

In the astable mode of operation, C1charges and

discharges between 1/3 Vccand 2/3 Vcc. As in the

triggeredmode, the charge and discharge times and therefore frequency are independent of the supply voltage.

LINEAR RAMP

When the pullup resistor, RA, in the monostable

cir-cuit is replaced by a constant current source, a linear ramp is generated. Figure 17 shows a circuit con-figuration that will perform this function.

BAB I

PENDAHULUAN

1.1. Latar Belakang Masalah

Tingkat teknologi yang semakin modern dapat digunakan untuk memberikan pelayanan yang lebih baik. Pada tugas akhir ini akan dibahas mengenai penerapan teknologi nir-kabel untuk memberikan pelayanan yang lebih baik di tempat-tempat umum khususnya pelayanan di restoran.

Pelayanan di restoran pada umumnya masih menggunakan cara tradisional, pelanggan harus memanggil sendiri pelayan yang ada di dekatnya secara vokal untuk meminta pelayanan, seperti memesan, meminta bill, dan meminta air. Dampak dari penggunaan cara tradisional ini akan merugikan jika pelanggan harus menunggu cukup lama sampai pelayan datang menghampiri, hal ini akan semakin mengganggu bila tidak ada pelayan di sekitar pelanggan untuk melayani, sehingga pelanggan harus mengelilingi restoran untuk mencari pelayan. Hasilnya pelanggan menjadi tidak puas dengan pelayanan yang diberikan. Persoalan di atas dapat diatasi dengan menggunaan alat service bell. Dengan teknologi ini pelanggan tidak perlu berteriak ataupun berkeliling untuk memanggil pelayan. Pelanggan cukup menekan tombol yang tersedia di meja masing-masing untuk meminta pelayanan. Hal ini akan semakin praktis dengan teknologi nir-kabel karena tidak dibutuhkan nir-kabel penghubung untuk koneksinya, selain itu keindahan interior restoran pun tidak akan terganggu.

1.2. Identifikasi Masalah

Berdasarkan latar belakang di atas, masalah yang akan diangkat pada tugas akhir ini adalah pengiriman data digital melalui Frekuensi Gelombang Radio dengan banyak transmitter dan satu receiver, serta pemrograman untuk

Universitas Kristen Maranatha mengirimkannya ke komputer secara serial untuk ditampilkan dalam bentuk GUI (Graphical User Interface).

1.3. Perumusan Masalah

Permasalahan yang akan dibahas dalam tugas akhir ini adalah:

• Bagaimana merancang dan merealisasikan alat service bell nir-kabel untuk mendukung peningkatan pelayanan di restoran?

1.4. Tujuan

Tujuan yang hendak dicapai dalam pengerjaan tugas akhir ini adalah: • Merancang dan merealisasikan alat service bell nir-kabel.

1.5. Batasan Masalah

Pembatasan masalah pada tugas akhir ini meliputi:

1. Diasumsikan tidak ada peralatan lain yang menggunakan frekuensi yang sama di daerah pemasangan service bell.

2. Diasumsikan hanya ada satu alat yang ditekan pada suatu waktu.

3. Pada tugas akhir ini hanya akan dibuat tiga buah transmitter dan satu buah

receiver.

1.6. Sistematika Penulisan

Agar penulisan laporan Tugas Akhir ini dapat lebih terarah dan terstruktur maka laporan ini akan dibagi dalam lima bab yaitu:

BAB I PENDAHULUAN

Berisi latar belakang masalah, identifikasi masalah, perumusan masalah, tujuan, batasan masalah, dan sistematika penulisan.

BAB II LANDASAN TEORI

Berisi pembahasan mengenai gelombang radio dan modulasi, rangkaian clock monostable dan astable, rangkaian pengkodean untuk decoder dan encoder, rangkaian inverter, rangkaian modul RF untuk transmitter dan receiver, serta mikrokontroler ATmega16.

BAB III PERANCANGAN DAN REALISASI

Berisi pembahasan mengenai perancangan sistem secara keseluruhan yang meliputi perancangan hardware untuk

transmitter dan receiver, serta perancangan software untuk program pengolahan data oleh mikrokontroler dan program untuk keperluan interfacing.

BAB IV DATA PENGAMATAN DAN ANALISIS

Berisi data hasil pengamatan setelah alat direalisasikan dan analisis terhadap hasil pengamatan yang meliputi : pengamatan sinyal di sejumlah titik baik pada rangkaian transmitter maupun receiver

beserta dengan analisisnya, pengamatan hasil tampilan baik pada komputer maupun LCD beserta dengan analisisnya, dan pengamatan jarak maksimum yang dapat dijangkau sistem baik di ruang terbuka maupun tertutup beserta dengan analisisnya.

BAB V KESIMPULAN DAN SARAN Berisi kesimpulan dan saran.

KESIMPULAN DAN SARAN

Bab ini berisi kesimpulan dari Tugas Akhir dan saran-saran yang perlu dilakukan untuk perbaikan di masa mendatang.

V.1. Kesimpulan

Dalam merealisasikan dan memprogram sistem wireless service bell, dapat disimpulkan bebarapa hal sebagai berikut :

1. Sistem Wireless Service Bell menggunakan modul Radio Frekuensi berhasil dirancang, direalisasikan, dan berfungsi sesuai dengan yang diharapkan.

2. Program interface yang direalisasikan dapat dipadukan dengan sistem

Wireless Service Bell dan berfungsi sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. 3. Ditemukan adanya masalah dalam penggunaan modul RF yang sudah

direalisasikan yaitu adanya “gray area”, untuk pengujian di ruang terbuka

gray area terdapat pada kisaran jarak 30.7m dan untuk di ruang tertutup berada pada kisaran jarak 15.3m.

4. Sistem Wireless Service Bell berjalan lebih optimal di tempat terbuka (dengan jangkauan maksimum sejauh 30.6m) dibandingkan dengan di tempat tertutup (dengan jangkauan maksimum sejauh 15.2m).

V.2. Saran

Saran-saran yang dapat diberikan untuk perbaikan dan pengembangan Tugas Akhir ini di masa mendatang adalah :

1. Dapat dikembangkan agar sistem memiliki tingkat keamanan dalam pengiriman data yang lebih baik misalnya dengan pemberian berbagai teknik enkripsi data.

2. Dapat dikembangkan agar ruang lingkup pemasangan sistem Wireless Service Bell lebih diperluas misalkan untuk area rumah sakit.

3. Lebih didalami kembali masalah yang timbul ketika ada data yang datang secara bersamaan dari beberapa transmitter agar sistem dapat bekerja lebih optimal.
