Australia Awards in Indonesia is inviting individuals who work in the renewable
energy sector to apply for a two-week short course in Australia in August 2018.
The course facilitates knowledge sharing among regional government agencies,
private companies, state-owned enterprises and NGOs.
To be selected for this course, you must:

• Be a representative from:
i)
Provincial or municipal government in eastern Indonesia: South
Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, North
Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, Papua Barat, NTT,
NTB, Bali
ii)
Private companies in Eastern Indonesia
iii)
State-Owned Enterprises including PLN and Pertamina in Eastern
Indonesia

iiii) NGO in Eastern Indonesia
iv)
Universities in Eastern Indonesia





Be a staff to echelon II level / mid to senior management level
Be endorsed by current supervisor/employer
Be committed to continue working in the same organisation for at
least one year
Be committed to preparing and implementing an Award Project as
part of the course
Be committed to disseminate learning from the award with peers and
stakeholders

It is desirable that the applicants have at least IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 500 level
English language competence; however this is not a constraint to course
participation. Applicants are asked to provide evidence of any previous language

tests, English language studies and/or participation in any overseas
forum/seminar/training should be submitted where possible as substitute.
This is a fully-funded scholarship. All course fees, travel, accommodation and
daily allowance will be provided by Australia Awards in Indonesia.

Learning objectives
On completion of the course, participants will be able to:

Understand the foundations of renewable energy technologies and their
environmental and economic benefits;
Understand current strategies and policies for utilising renewable energy;
Analyse the energy needs in different regions in eastern Indonesia (including
Bali) and how renewable energy can supplement the currently used sources
of energy;
Compare solutions for renewable energy utilisation in Indonesia with
Australia;
Identify the different sources for renewable energy within the Indonesian
context;
Understand the infrastructure investment and appropriate technology needed
for renewable energy;
Understand investors’ perspectives in renewable energy investment;
Design policies and regulations that can facilitate investment in renewable
energy;

Build common understanding between the different participating organisations
regarding their role and responsibilities in renewable energy;
Design strategies to encourage private sector to promote renewable energy.

Dates and location
The program is delivered in three parts: pre-course workshop in Indonesia, inAustralia program and a post-course workshop. Attendance at all three parts of the
course is compulsory. The course is scheduled as below:




The Pre-Award Workshop in Makassar on 7–9 May 2018
The short course in Australia on 3–19 August 2018
The Post-Award Workshop on 27–29 November 2018 (tbc)

Gender equity will be a consideration and women are strongly encouraged to
apply.
Applicants should submit their application online by 18 March 2018. The selection
panel will select 25 participants. The shortlisted participants will be informed by
early April 2018.
