  THE IDIOMATIC FORMS IN CHRISTINA PERRI’S SONG

ABSTRACT

  The study was aimed to find what are the form of idiom used in human song, what are the meanings of idiom in human song, and what are the speech function of idiom in human song. The data was taken from the lyric of Christina Perri song entitle human, human song in the album of head of heart. Head of heart album was released on 2014, wich consisting of 13 songs.

  Research design in this study is descriptive qualitative research. Research type used in this study is document or content analysis. To analyses the data that has been collecting this study used root analyses. And used some dictionary of idiom to know the meaning of idiom.

  The finding shows that there are some words of idiom in Christina Perri

  

song entitle human song that have been classified into form of idiom. From the

  analysis, there were some form of idioms, they were phrasal verb, idiom with verb as

  

keyword, idiom with noun as keyword, idiom with adjective as keyword, and

idiomatic pairs . The result of the study was totally found twelve Idioms. The

  meaning that is used in this study are literal and contextual meaning. In the contextual meaning there are two participant. The participant gave the opinion about contextual meaning in human song. And the function of idiom are expressive, referential, and poetic.

  This study is expexted to give contribution for the reader to know about idiom. It can help the reader speak English more interesting. And it can also be expected to increase new English vocabulary.

THE IDIOMATIC FORMS IN CHRISTINA PERRI’S SONG

ABSTRAK

  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari apa bentuk idiom yang digunakan di lagu human, apa arti idiom di lagu human, dan apa kegunaan idiom di lagu human. Data yang telah diambil dari lirik lagu Christina Perri yang bejudul human. Lagu

  

human ada di dalam album head of heart. Album head of heart telah dirilis tahun

2014, yang terdiri dari 13 lagu.

  Research design yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif qualitatif. Research type yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dokumen atau analisis isi. Untuk menganalisis data yang telah dikumpulkan di penelitian ini menggunakan root analisis. Dan menggunakan beberapa kamus idiom untuk mengetahui arti dari idiom.

  Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa ada beberapa idiom pada lagu Christina Perri yang berjudul human telah di klasifikasikan dalam bentuk idiom. Dari analisis, ada beberapa bentuk idiom, yaitu phrasal verb, idiom with verb as keyword, idiom with

  

noun as keyword, idiom with adjective as keyword, and idiomatic pairs . Hasil

  penelitian menemukan dua belas idiom. Makna yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah makna literal dan contextual. Dalam makna kontekstual ada dua responden. Para responden memberikan pendapat mengenai makna kontekstual dalam lagu

  

human . Dan fungsi dari idiom yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah

expressive, referential, dan poetic.

  Penelitian in diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi untuk pembaca untuk mengetahui tentang idiom. Ini dapat membantu pembaca berbahasa Inggris lebih menarik. Dan ini juga diharapkan dapat menambah kosa kata Bahasa Inggris baru.
