Example 1
Student : Ma`am, I find difficulty to understand this material,
Could you give a favor? Teacher :Of course. But I will have a meeting in ten minutes. What about
seeing me this afternoon after the break at 3 o’clock? I am going to show you the easiest one. Come on time, will you?
Student : Thank you Ma’am. Certainly at 3 o’clock. The use of could expressed by the students shows that the students want to be
polite. The teacher expresses “I will have a meeting”, it means the teacher has
no plan to have the meeting in advance.
