ABSTRACT
Blue Dye Fish (Oreochromis niloticus L.) is one of freshwater fish type has nature very easy to
be maintained, because it can growth well and live in various water condition. In maintaining
blue dye fish also get infection and disease. The most disease attack blue dye fish is type of
bacteria Aeromonas hydrophilla. This bacteria often attack South East Asia countries especially
Indonesia. Usage of chemistry medicine has negative effect. Guava plant has many chemistry
contents as anti microbe among others tannin, flavonoid and eugenol.
This research objective is to know the effect of guava (Psidium guajava L.) leaf filtrate to the life
of blue dye fish (Oreochromis niloticus L.) was infected by bacteria Aeromonas hydrophilla and
to know concentration of guava (Psidium guajava L.) leaf filtrate that has best effect to the life of
blue dye fish (Oreochromis niloticus L.) was infected by bacteria Aeromonas hydrophilla. The
parameter used in this research is the life of blue dye fish had infected by bacteria Aeromonas
hydrophilla then it was given guava leaf filtrate. This research type is RAL, consists each of 5

times repeatedly with 6 treatments 0%, 0.5%, 1.5%, 2.5%, 3.5% and 4.5%. This research was
conducted at the Fish Seed Bureau (BBI) Punten, Batu since August 24th to September 11th
2008.
The research result indicated that there was effect of guava leaf filtrate addition (Psidium guajava
L.) toward the life of blue dye fish (Oreochromis niloticus L.) was infected by bacteria
Aeromonas hydrophilla. The result of Duncan’s test analysis that D treatment with concentration
(2.5%) giving the highest life with average value 88%. The B treatment with concentration
(0.5%) giving the lowest life with average value 48% and A treatment with concentration (0%)
or control didn’t give the life at all and all of it was died. Therefore, it can conclude that
concentration 2.5% giving guava (Psidium guajava L.) leaf filtrate had been effective for the blue
dye (Oreochromis niloticus L.) life was infected by bacteria Aeromonas hydrophilla.
