ABSTRAK
Pada era persaingan media massa seperti sekarang ini, tiaptiap media muncul dengan beragam
program, sedemikian dengan program berita. Berbagai jenis program berita ditayangkan pada
media elektronik, dari feature news hingga hard news. Demikian pula yang dilakukan dengan
TRANS TV, sebagai salah satu TV swasta unggulan di Indonesia, yang muncul dengan salah
satu program beritanya, dengan nama “Reportase Investigasi”, sebuah program berita yang
mengungkap kejahatan publik.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana mahasiswa memandang program berita
“Reportase Investigasi” dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif analitik. Penelitian ini dilakukan
terhadap 6 mahasiswa Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang yang memiliki latar belakang
jurnalistik, dengan terdaftar sebagai mahasiswa konsentrasi jurnalistik dan telah menyelesaikan
studi jurnalistiknya. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Agustus hingga bulan Oktober 2007,
dengan diawali dengan menyebarkan kuisioner untuk menentukan informan yang memenuhi
kriteria untuk diteliti. Jumlah informan sendiri ditentukan dengan menggunakan purposive
sampling, dimana peneliti tidak harus memiliki kuota tertentu untuk dipenuhi.
Pada penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini, teknik analisis yang digunakan antara lain, datinduksi
data (koleksi, simplifikasi, dan kategorisasi), interpretasi data, dan konseptualisasi data. Pada
akhirnya, data akan dianalisa dengan menggunakan dua teori, yakni teori penilaian sosial (social
judgment theory) dan tori dependensi.
Berdasarkan penelitian selama satu setengah bulan, hasil penelitian menunjukkan tendensi
bahwa program berita “Reportase Investigasi” dipandang belum cukup memenuhi esensi berita
sebagai mana mestinya. Sedangkan dari sisi pengemasan berita, para informan menilai bahwa
program berita ini sudah mencerminkan sebagaimana layaknya berita investigasi, hanya perlu
sedikit penyesuaian pada voice over dan penyajian berita.
Berdasarkan teori, investigasi lapangan ini menunjukkan apa yang disebut sebagai anchor
impact, dimana para penonton akan menilai suatu berita dengan berat berita yang mereka lihat
pertama kali sebagai pembanding. Lebih lanjut lagi, egoinvolvement juga menjadi unsur utama
bagaimana penonton menilai suatu berita. Seiring dengan program yang ditayangkan secara
reguler, berita yang disajikan akan lebih mengena kepada mereka yang pernah menjadi korban
atau mereka yang mencoba menghindari kerugian yang disebabkan oleh bisnisbisnis seperti
yang ditunjukkan dalam berita. Dan pada fenomena inilah, ketergantungan atau dependensi
seseorang terhadap suatu berita terbukti eksistensinya.
ABSTRACT
In the era of mass media competition, each media came up with such various programs, as well
as the news program. And this research is aiming at investigating the students' view toward
“Reportase Investigasi” News Program on TRANS TV, by using descriptive analytical method.
This research was conducted on 6 students of journalistic class 2003.The research was held in
University of Muhammadiyah Malang, around August to September 2007. Firstly, by spreading
the PreResearch Polling, to find the students who fulfilled the criteria to be interviewed. The
number of informants it selves is determined by using Purposive Sampling where the
investigator does not necessarily have a quota of informants to fill.
In this descriptive qualitative research, the analysis technique was used by employing data
collection, data simplification, data classification, data interpretation, and data conceptualization.
And in the final stage, research data then analyzed by approaching the Dependency Theory and
Social Judgment Theory.
Based on the one and a half month of investigation, the result show the tendency that most the
interviewees view that the program is not adequately fulfilled the journalism essences.
Meanwhile from the news packaging, viewers see that the points have already deliver the sense
of investigation reporting, only a small correction related to the news packaging point.
Related to the theory this field investigation shows that there has been a tendency of what the
theory call as the anchor impact, where the viewers still perceived the program as they showed in
the beginning stages. Furthermore, the ego involvement also plays a big part in adjudicating the
media. As the program goes and running continually, the viewers go on the perception that the
program should be seen as usual as an psychological impact of what the theory said, that the
people is depending on the media as argued by Sandra BallRokeach and Melvin DeFleur. The
program will be more is more ego involving to the audience, as the victim, or as ones who’s
trying to avoid the loses that caused by certain businesses. In this phenomenon, the dependency
of the people to the media is proven to be existing.
