5. Anxiety
The next major element of existentialism is anxiety. Sartre expressed that anxiety happens when human decides himself as what he wants to be, but what he
decides to choose as choice will be hard responsible by him Hassan, 1985: 105. All choices will have a risk and also responsible, because of that the
anxiety will be felt by him because of the hard responsibility and the risk. Human will always choose in the life problem. He will always present the kind of optional
choice in this life. As following Sartre quotation. He creates himself and responsible more over to himself. This
phenomenon causes human to comprehend anxiety, because he should choose in front of him and also that does not just relate to him but also for human unity. No
people can run from the disturb of thinking anxiety accept such kind of self observation Sartre, 2002: 49. The point of this theory is “we are aware of who
we are and fully responsible for our existence” and the people are anguish, if human claim that they are not anxious, than they are merely hiding their anxiety.
Anxiety appears when the people have chosen choice in their life with responsibility and consequent.
6. Transcendence of Ego
Human cannot live in society individually, human needs the other people to help him in the universe. Human lives together with human else as the part of
the society. That is important for human to show himself as the part of society. Human has a big power of Ego to help each other in the society. As the
part of society, human has Transcendence of Ego. Transcendence of Ego is such kind of tendencies for human to do more helpful for their society as a useful
person or a hero, for the example the man has tendencies to help the woman who gets accident at the street. The Ego of him to help is more important than the ego
in himself because it is good for himself to choose as a good man. As Sartre stated in Hassan “I am responsible for myself and for everyone else. I am creating a
certain image of man of my own choosing. In choosing myself, I choose a man.” Hassan, 1985: 104. Human existence will be good if he always chooses the
choice which useful for himself and also for the other people in the society.
