BIOGRAPHY

Fajri Hafizah was born in Aceh Timur on February 13th 1993. Her father’s name is H. Zainal Abidin SH. MH and her mother is Hj. Evi Muliana SE. In 1998, the writer started her first educational experience in TK NURUL A’LA PEUREULAK and finished in 1999. In 1999, the writer continued her educational experience in SD NEGERI 1 PEUREULAK and finished in 2005. In 2005, the writer continued her study in MTS ISC Al-Manar Medan and finished in 2008. In 2008, the writer continued her study in MAS Ar-Raudlatul Hasanah Medan and finished in 2011. In 2011, the writer was registered in Biology Bilingual Education program, Biology Departement, Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Science, Universitas Negeri Medan and did the completion thesis on 19 st August 2016.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study were to investigate the effect of Power Point Media on student Learning Outcome. This research was conducted in PP Ar-Raudlatul Hasanah Medan, academic years 2014/2015. The method used in this study is quasi experimental methods. Sample two classes of student from one school in Medan as Control class and Experimental class. The population in this research is all class X PP Ar- Raudlatul Hasanah Boarding School 2014/2015 year. From the population was taken 65 student as the sample by using cluster random sampling.Student learning outcome were measured with multiple choice Pre-Test – Post-Test. The data were analyzed with t-test by using SPSS. The result show that the learning outcome had significance. In Pre-Test student for learning outcome the corrected media (F=13,614; P = 0,000). By using independent t- test, at level of significance α = 0,05were significantly for learning outcome of student in Post-Test, and corrected media (F=1,380 ; P = 0,245 ) were significant because the result Pre-Test ( 0,203 > 0,005 ) it means Ho is Rejected and Ha is Accepted.

CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background

Through instructional media teachers can improve the quality of education, in particular by accessing science and technology information to implement of the fun and qualified education. The use of learning media should start from elementary, junior and high school demanded to early recognize the media, especially visual media.

Learning media such as powerpoint can be considered very as an appropriate media to solve the problem,because this medium provides audio visual so that students absorb information to see, hear and respondby each student memorizing, ability in order to easily understand information visually, more stimulating students to learn about teaching material presented, the object is displayed visible concrete(real) power point presentation varied as there are application images, animation, sound, video the learning process does not boring(Jack, Hidalgo.2004)

Complexity of the material to be presented to students can be simplified with the help of audio media visual more ever. The audio-visual media can represent what is less able to say by a teacher through certain words or sentences. Indeed abstract materials can beconcretized through audio-visual media. Seeing these conditions, the presence of visual media have an important role in the learning process in the study abstract of biological objects, and the IT can it can overcome the problem in biology learning.

The learning process in general school have aims to master the competency standards that have been set, especially in biology lesson that must be created more attractive and easy to understand because it requires an understanding of memorizing. Passive attitude of students in teaching learning, the material is too difficult for students, the learning process is less varied, uncreative teachers in presenting the material, applymemorizing system not for understanding in the learning process, dominated most by teacher role so students are less independent in learning process.

To anticipate the case, in order to make teaching learning process run as expected, it need to be supported by appropriate learning media. The use of learning media is expected to help the effectiveness of the learning process as well as the delivery of messages and content.

1.2 Problem Identification

Based on the description of the problems in background above, it can be identified several issues as follows: 1) the use of media power point has not been implemented optimally at school, and 2) generally, teachers do not use the Media PowerPoint (PPT).

1.3 Research Scope

From the descriptionabove,the scope of the problem is limited to know the effect of the media of power point on the student learning outcomes in SMA

1.4 Research Question

Based on the limitation of the problem above, the problems are formulated as follows: (1) There any significant effect of the use of media power point to students’ learning outcome to the ecosystem topic?

1.5 Research Objectives

This research aim to find out (1) The effect of the use of media Power Point (PPT) on student’s learning outcomes in grade X.

1.6 Research Benefits

The results of this research expect to contribute in both theoretical and practical, namely:

Results of this study can be beneficial to the enrichment of information about efforts to help the effectiveness of the learning process as well as the delivery of messages and content and as the reference for the further research.

1.6.2. Practical Benefits

For teachers, in order to create more attractive learning media.For students, in order to get a learning experience that more easy to understand.For schools, so that may be additional information on innovation activities in teaching and learning process at SMA Ar – Raudlatul Hasanah.

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

5.1 Conclusion

Based on the result of research, there are some conclusions :

1. Teaching ecosystem topic using power point media did not affect students learning outcome.

5.2 Suggestion

Power media a lowe is not suggestion :

1. To improve students learning outcome in ecosystem topic. However the use ofpower point media in conjunction with other media on teaching technique probility will effect student learning outcome. Thus, for future research it is suggestion that the use of power point media should be in coperated with other media or teaching method.
