Conclusion Suggestion A Social Analysis Of Anti-Racism In John Lee Hancock’s The Blind Side

41 CHAPTER V CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

5.1 Conclusion

After analyzing “The Blind Side”, I found that the relationship between the white and the black people is not always formed in negative way. In this movie, they have a really good relationship. Laigh Anne, the white, treats Michael Oher, the black, as her own son without any racism thought and action. She believes that every human were born equally and everyone has right and freedom without any discrimination in racial, skin color, gender, religion or cultural things. In this analysis, anti-racism action that has done by white people is hard to accept by the black society, and so by the white society. Both of the societies still have bad stereotype on each other. Black society think that the idea of white people adopt black people just to exploit and get financial benefit like Leigh Anne that adopt Michael Oher just to make him a good baseball player and get money from what Michael done. Nevertheless, Leigh prove that she adopt him because she really care and love him, and she let Michael to be a baseball player because that what Michael wants to do, not her wants. Leigh Anne does not want Michael to be like most young black, involve in violance, being drug addict and die tragically . Leigh knows that there is big things in Michael and she helps him to improve his ability to figure out the big thing in him so he will have bright future. What Leigh has done let the black society understand that she really wants to help the black society. 42 The impact of anti-racism actions is very meaningful for someone who was excommunicated from the environment because of the difference in skin color, physical, cultural, moral, or intellectual distinction between racial groups. The impact was not only felt in the life of Michael Oher but also in the life of Leigh Anne. She feels this world there are still many people in need, no matter the physical and race. A successful life is meaningless without the help of someone who needs help.

5.2 Suggestion

Racial Discrimination is one of the worst social problem that still exist up to this very moment in every part of the world. But in “The Blind Side”, John Lee Hancock describes black people as presented particular images had a good treatment from white people in film. They can create a good relationship between black and white. There are several suggestion that this thesis could offer to readers, which are: • Racial discrimination happened with the basic of physical appearances, which is the skin color. People should not be judge based on their performance but based on type of person and how they contribute to the community. • Anti-racism is not only found in society, but also in literary work such in this movie. It also proves that movie is not only made to entertain, some movies also come with rich moral value that can be analyzed like in this movie. 43 • The movie brings out the importance of trust and the importance of gaining it. And the movie shows how precarious trust is, and how regaining it is hard work. But it also shows that when you are committed to bringing out the best in the people you lead, that trust can with stand much and earns a deep sense of loyalty. 7 CHAPTER II REVIEW OF LITERATURE
