PENGARUH TERPAAN RUBRIK KLINIK FOTOGRAFI KOMPAS di
SURAT KABAR HARIAN KOMPAS TERHADAP MOTIVASI MEMOTRET

ABSTRAK
KOMPAS merupakan salah satu koran terbesar di Indonesia yang banyak memberikan
informasi dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan. Misalnya seputar dunia politik, hukum, sosial dan
budaya. KOMPAS juga jeli melihat perkembangan akan kebutuhan perkembangan informasi
yang semakin beragam salah satunya adalah informasi tentang dunia fotografi. Baik sebagai
penghobi atau pun sebagai profesi, fotografi saat ini telah berkembang sangat pesat. Mulai
bulan Februari minggu pertama tahun 2009, KOMPAS menyediakan rubrik khusus fotografi.
Isi dari rubrik tersebut merupakan artikel-artikel seputar fotografi, sehingga dapat
memberikan wacana baru bagi siapa pun yang membacanya. KOMPAS adalah salah satu
surat kabar harian yang menyuguhkan rubrik fotografi yang bernama Klinik Fotografi
KOMPAS atau yang biasa disingkat dengan KFK.
Peneliti tertarik untuk meneliti pengaruh terpaan rubrik KFK terhadap motivasi memotret
mahasiswa. Mahasiswa sebagai objek analisis yang dipilih adalah anggota JUFOC
(Jurnalistik Fotografi Club). Kerangka teori dari penelitian ini adalah teori uses and
gratification. Teori uses and gratification menunjukkan bahwa apa yang diharapkan khalayak
terhadap apa yang akan diberikan media dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan khalayak.
Untuk menjawab pertanyaan seberapa besar pengaruh terpaan rubrik Klinik Fotografi
KOMPAS terhadap motivasi memotret mahasiswa, peneliti menggunakan metode survei.
Populasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 162. Untuk penentuan sampel menggunakan rumus
Slovin, sehingga diperoleh sebanyak 62 orang. Unit analisa dalam penelitian survei adalah
individu dan data pokok yang didapat dalam metode survei adalah melalui angket.
Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukan bahwa terpaan rubrik Klinik Fotografi
KOMPAS berpengaruh positif terhadap motivasi memotret mahasiswa. Dengan kata lain,
apabila terpaan rubrik Klinik Fotografi KOMPAS terjadi dengan baik dan dapat terusmenerus ditingkatkan, maka akan diikuti motivasi memotret mahasiswa. Selain itu, terpaan
rubrik Klinik Fotografi KOMPAS dapat mempengaruhi secara signifikan terhadap motivasi
memotret mahasiswa. Dengan kata lain, bila terpaan rubrik Klinik Fotografi KOMPAS
meningkat, maka akan dapat meningkatkan motivasi memotret mahasiswa. Untuk prosentase
pengaruh terpaan rubrik Klinik Fotografi KOMPAS terhadap motivasi memotret mahasiswa
dapat dijelaskan bahwa 27% variabel motivasi memotret mahasiswa akan dijelaskan oleh
variabel bebasnya yaitu terpaan rubrik Klinik Fotografi KOMPAS. Sedangkan sisanya 73%
variabel Motivasi memotret mahasiswa akan dijelaskan oleh variabel-variabel yang lain yang
tidak dibahas dalam penelitian ini.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka disarankan kepada fotografer pada umumnya dan
khususnya anggota JUFOC selalu mengikuti materi dari rubrik Klinik Fotografi KOMPAS
setiap minggunya. Karena rubrik Klinik Fotografi KOMPAS dapat memotivasi dalam
memotret. Selain itu, rubrik tersebut juga dapat menambah wacana keilmuan dalam bidang
fotografi.

of motivation photographing students, researchers using the survey method. Population in
this study as many as 162. For the determination of the sample using the Slovin formula, so
that as many as 62 people. Unit of analysis in survey research is the individual and the basic
data obtained in the survey method is through a questionnaire.
From the results of research conducted shows that exposure rubric Photography Clinic
KOMPAS positive impact on student motivation photographed. In other words, if the
exposure section Photography Clinic KOMPAS occur well and can be continually improved,
it will be followed by photographing student motivation. In addition, exposure rubric
Photography Clinic KOMPAS can significantly affect the motivation of students
photographed. In other words, if the exposure section Photography Clinic KOMPAS
increases, it will be able to increase student motivation photographed. Percentage exposure to
the influence of Photography Clinic KOMPAS rubric of photographing student motivation
can be explained that the 27% variable photographing student motivation will be explained
by the exposure to variable elimination rubric KOMPAS Photography Clinic. While the
remaining 73% variable photographing student motivation will be explained by the variables
that are not addressed in this study.
Based on the results of research it is advisable to photographers in general and in particular
members JUFOC always follow the rubric of material from KOMPAS Photography Clinic
each week. Because section Photography Clinic KOMPAS can motivate the photograph. In
