ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research are 1) to get information technique handling of
frozen semen by artificial insemination staf, 2) to determine bovine frozen semen quality
at every distribution level and 3) to compare fiozen semen quality produced by Lembang
A~rtificial Insemination Centre with Singosari Artificial Insemination Centre (BIB).

S~unplecollected fiom respondens consisting of 46 inseminator and 7 frozen semen
manager province level. The location of this research are Sumatera Barat, Jawa Barat,
Jawa Tengah, DI. Yogyakarta, Jawa Timur, Nusa Tenggara Barat and Sulawesi Selatan.
The frozen semen sample collected from every distribution level (BIB, province, district
and inseminator home base).
Result of the observation on the thawing places indicated that approximately
541.35% (25146) in the inseminate location, 39.13% ((18146) inseminator home base and
6.52% (3146) sometimes in the inseminate location or inseminator home base. Duration
of' thawed (up from liquid nitrogen until up from water thawing) by inseminator less
than 30 second 56.52% (26146), 30 to 120 second 21.74% (10146) and more than 120
second 21.74% (10146). Duration of inseminated (up fiom water thawing until
inseminate to reproductive organ) less than 2 minute 50% (23146), 2 to 4 minute 15.22%
(7146) and more than 4 minute 34.78% (16.46%). Frozen semen transfer from storage
container to another container indicated that 75.47% (40153) still in the container, 24.53%
(13153) out of container, 86.79% (46153) used clamp for handling frozen semen and
13.21% (7153) used hands directly.
Liquid nitrogen (LN) volume in the storage container indicated 40% not enough
arid 60% enough. Frekuences of LN supplied from province or supplier to inseminator
only one per month. The percentages of post thawing sperm motility (PTM) in the BIB
4!2.10%, 41.03% in province, 36.30% in district and 35.05% in inseminator home base.

Declining percentages motility was happened fiom BIB to province, BIB to district and
B [B to inseminator home base, respectively, 16.4%, 26.1 % and 28.6%. Percentages
intact plasma mebrane in the BIB 67.7%, 43.2% in province, 42.5% in district and 44.1%
in inseminator home base. Declining percentages intact plasma-mebrane was happened
fiom BIB to province, BIB to district and BIB to inseminator home base, respectively,
3G.2%, 37.2% and 34.8%.
