B. Identification of the Problem
Based on the background above, the researcher identified the problems as follows : 1.
The students have problem in writing recount text. 2.
The students have difficulties in organize idea, lack of vocabulary and write sentence ungrammatically.
3. The students’ achievement in writing recount text is below the expectation.
C. Limitation of the Problem
The researcher was investigated the students’ problems in writing recount text at the
first semester of the eighth grade of SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung the academic year of 2016 2017.
D. Formulation of the problem
Referring to the identification of the problem and limitation of the problem above, the researcher formulated the problems as follows :
1. What are students’ problems in writing recount text ?
2. What is the most dominant problem in writing recount text?
3. Why do the students have problem in writing recount text ?
E. Objective of the Research
The objectives of this research are : 1.
To find out students’ problems in writing recount text. 2.
To know the most dominant problem in writing recount text. 3.
To know the causes of students’ problem in writing recount text.

1. Subject of the research
Subject of the research was the students at the eighth grade of SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung.
2. Object of the Research
The object of the research was the students’ problems in writing recount text.
3. Place of the Research
The research was conducted at SMPN 4 Bandar Lampung. 4.
Time of Research The research was conducted at the first semester in the academic year of 2016
