Music pyracy is one problem that cannot be totally fixed yet. The existance of
Ring Back Tone (RBT) gives a new hope for better way of music appreciation.
RBT is substituter of the standard tone shows that calling proccess is waiting for
an answer. A huge number of RBT’s usage as a telecommunication service

misused by some tricky producer. YLKI (Indonesian consumer board foundation)
said that telecommunication service is a topic that complained by many
consumers. The aim of this research was to analyze the knowledge, perception
and ring back tone’s purchasing behavior by first year student of IPB. This crosssectional study designed research was located in Bogor Agricultural University on
March until Juli 2011. The amount of sample in this study is 36 IPB’s first year
(TPB) students who were activated ring back tone at the time user’s survey was
held. Result showed that sample’s knowledge about ring back tone is in a peak
stage. Meanwhile, perception toward ring back tone rate is in a less agree level.
Ring back tone’s purchasing behavior is influenced by sample’s perception
toward it (p
