RINGKASAN
Tujuan penelitian ini, untuk mendapatkan proporsi garis Simian, pola sidik jari dan jumlah
rigi sidik jari pada kelompok retardasi mental dan kelompok normal. Penelitian ini telah
dilakukan di Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat (YPAC), Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu (SDIT)
Nurul Ilmi dan SDIT Al-Hijrah II. Jumlah peserta dalam penelitian ini adalah 223 orang.
Kelompok retardasi mental terdiri dari 35 orang perempuan dan 58 orang laki-laki.
Kelompok normal terdiri dari 55 orang perempuan dan 75 orang laki-laki. Metode yang
digunakan adalah penelitian kasus kontrol, dengan variabel yang diamati adalah proporsi
garis Simian, pola sidik jari (whorl, loop ulna. loop radial dan arch) dan jurnlah rigi sidik jari.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan proporsi garis Simian lebih tinggi pada kelompok
retardasi mental (14%) dibanding kelompok noinial (8%), tetapi uji Chi-Kuadrat tidak
berbeda nyata pada p = 0,05. Pola sidik jari kelompok retardasi mental dan kelompok
normal sama, tetapi proporsinya tidak sama, urutan dari yang tertinggi adalah : loop ulna,
whorl, loop radial dan arch, dengan uji Chi-Kuadrat berbeda nyata pada p = 0,05. Nilai
indeks Dankmeijer kelompok retardasi mental (9,12) lebih tinggi dibanding kelompok
normal (0,39). Nilai indeks Furuhata kelompok retardasi mental (48,92) lebih rendah dibanding
kelompok normal (64,09). Nilai indeks Cummins & Midlo kelompok retardasi mental (12,9) lebih
rendah dibanding kelompok normal (13,9). Rata-rata jumlah rigi sidik jari kelompok retardasi
mental (114,1) lebih rendah dibanding kelompok normal (142,8), dengan uji t berbeda nyata
pada p = 0,05.
Proporsi pola sidik jari dan jumlah rigi sidik jari berbeda nyata antara kelompok
retardasi mental dan kelompok normal, tetapi proporsi garis Simian tidak berbeda nyata antara
kedua kelompok tersebut.

SUMMARY
The objective of this study was to obtain the proportion of Simian line, fingerprints patterns
and the total ridge count in the mentally retarded and the normal group. The study had been
done in Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat (YPAC), Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu (SDIT) Nurul
Ilmi and SDIT Al-Hijrah II M Medan at December 2005. The number of participants in this
study was 223 people. They consisted of 35 females and 58 males from the mentally retarded
group and 55 females and 75 males from the normal group. The method used in this study was
case control study with observed variables were the Simian line, the fingerprints patterns
(whorl, ulnar loop, radial loop and arch) and the total ridge count.
The result of this research showed that the proportion of Simian line in the mentally retarded
group (14%) was higher than the nominal group (8%), but Chi-Square test was not significant
at p = 0,05. The fingerprints patterns on both groups were equal, but the proportion was not, with
the highest proportion started from ulnar loop, whorl, radial loop and arch, with Chi-Square
test was significant at p = 0,05. Dankmeijer value index in the mentally retarded group (9.12)
was higher than the normal group (0.39). Furuhata value index in the mentally retarded group
(48.92) was lower than the normal group (64.09). Cummins & Midlo value index in the
mentally retarded group (12.9) was lower than the normal group (13.9). The average of the
total ridge count in the mentally retarded group (114.1) was lower than the normal group
(142.8), t test was significant at p = 0,05.
Fingerprints patterns proportion and total ridge count were statistically different between
mentally retarded group and normal group, but Simian line proportion was not different
significantly on both these groups.
