In analyzing Marco‘s characteristics, the writer uses Goldstone‘s theory and Forster ‘s theory. Goldstone‘s theory is used to describe the characteristics of Marco through the play. In A View from the Bridge Marco is described as an Italian immigrant who moved illegally to the United States with his brother Rodolpho because they were unable to find jobs in Italy. They hope to work as longshoremen and make enough money to support their family in Italy. Marco is one of the major characters in the play, as he has an important role as the representation of Italian customs.
