Modifikasi Lateks ( Hevea brasilliensis) dan Bitumen dalam Peningkatan Kekuatan Aspal

ABSTRAK

Modifikasi Lateks dan Bitumen dalam Peningkatan Kekuatan Aspal telah
dilakukan. Aspal modifier dibuat dalam 7 jenis variasi perbandingan aspal,
bitumen, dengan lateks sebesar 75:20:5; 70:20:10; 65:20:15; 60:20:20; 55:20:25;
80:20:0 dan 80:0:20 (v/v/v) dalam 100 ml, penambahan agregat pasir halus 300
gram dan kerikil 50 gram, dan di proses dalam ekstruder pada suhu 150 ºC. Sifat
mekanik dan sifat termal aspal modifier yang diuji meliputi kuat tekan, daya serap
air, dan morfologi dengan TEM. Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa
campuran aspal, bitumen, dan lateks dengan perbandingan 70 : 20 : 10 efektif
dalam meningkatkan sifat mekanis dari campuran aspal dimana dihasilkan
kekuatan tekan maksimum sebesar 0,59 Mpa. Sifat fisik menghasilkan
penyerapan air sebesar 0,82%. Hasil uji morfologi dengan TEM memperlihatkan
adanya perbedaan setelah bitumen ditambahkan ke dalam campuran aspal dan
lateks.

IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF ASPHALITY STRENGTH

ABSTRACT

Modification Of Latex and Bitumen in the Improvement Of Asphality Strength
has been done. Asphalt modifier made in 7 different types of formulations with a
variety comparison asphalt, bitumen and latex at 75:20:5; 70:20:10; 65:20:15;
60:20:20; 55:20:25; 80:20:0 and 80:0:20 (v/v/v) in 100 ml, addition of 300 grams
of fine sand aggregate and 50 grams of gravels, and processing in a extruder
which temperature were fixed at 150ºC. Mechanical properties and thermal
properties of asphalt modifiers tested include compressive strength, water
absorption, and morphology by TEM. The results showed that the optimum
mixture is in the form of lignin isolates and asphalt with 40:60 ratio which gives
the density and compressive strength is good, and as much as 40 grams of lignin,
which serves as a water barrier. The result of characterization showed that the
mixture of asphalt, bitumen, and latex with a variety of 70 : 20 : 10 used
effectively in improving the mechanical properties which produced a maximum
compressive strength of 0,59 Mpa. Physical properties generate water absorption

0,82%. The result of morphology test by TEM shows a different after bitumen are
added into the mix asphalt and latex.
