Thomas Alva Edison
He had many important people in his life, accomplished many things, and had many important
events take place in his life. He died a peaceful death and earned many "nicknames". Thomas Alva Edison
was a superb person and definitely a role model.
Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11th, 1847 in Milan Ohio. Edison had a very unique
childhood for many reasons which made it like no other. Thomas Alva Edison accomplished many things
in his life. He has a world record of 1,093 patents in one lifetime, of which the electric light bulb was the
greatest achievement and greatest invention. Most of the inventions from the mid 1800s that Edison made
or upgraded are still in use today in some way, and some are items that we rely on to survive. Thomas
also made the first industrial research laboratory. Thomas Edison is one of the world finest/greatest
inventors of all time. Edison received many titles too. He was named “The Greatest Living American” in
1922, “The Inventor of the Age”, and “Wizard of Menlo Park”. One aspect about Edison that is very
interesting is that he was afraid of the dark and spiders, and still worked in a partly dark laboratory that
had spiders in it (Delano, 2002).
Thomas Alva Edison died on October 18th, 1931. He was more that an inventor, he was a Great
American. In fact, he shouldn’t be considered Great American; he should be considered a Superb

American. He did something to this world that changed the way people live just by the efforts and passion
he put forth into his work. He lost his hearing mostly as s child, but didn’t stop him from doing what he
loved to do. Edison was a selfless man and only care about the success humankind; we can tell because he
went above and beyond in his inventions. You may think Thomas Edison was a genius, but he is not;
anyone can be a genius. Thomas Alva Edison lived by only one quote.
