Abstract
The Geographic information system is one of the systems that is needed nowadays,
because it serves as a foundation in supporting variety of applications in various sectors,
one of which is education. Salatiga as city the surrounding purpose people for the of
continuing education. Providing information regarding education, especially schools, to
the people is of major importance to enhance Salatiga Education Official activity in

providing service. Still at least geographic information based multimedia about schools
in Salatiga Education Official, so it is necessary to have a geographic information system
mapping of school. The method used in designing the Geographic Information System of
School Mapping in Salatiga is the prototype model. The result show that this system
provides information on high School in the city in the form of digital maps, containing
spatial data and attribute data, generates information about indicators of education and
also beneficial for related parties to improve education services in Salatiga.

Sistem Informasi Geografis adalah salah satu sistem yang diperlukan saat ini,
karena berfungsi sebagai dasar dalam mendukung berbagai aplikasi di berbagai sektor,
salah satunya adalah pendidikan. Dinas Pendidikan Kota Salatiga mempunyai tugas
melaksanakan pelayanan bidang pendidikan di wilayah Kota Salatiga. Penyediaan
informasi kepada masyarakat mengenai pendidikan, khususnya sekolah, menjadi hal yang
sangat penting guna mendukung kegiatan pelayanan Dinas Pendidikan Kota Salatiga.
Masih sedikitnya informasi geografis berbasis multimedia tentang sekolah di Dinas
Pendidikan Kota Salatiga, sehingga perlu untuk memiliki sistem informasi geografis
pemetaan sekolah. Metode yang dipakai dalam merancang Sistem Informasi Geografis
Pemetaan Sekolah Berbasis Multimedia adalah prototype model. Hasil menunjukan bahwa
Sistem ini memberikan informasi tentang sekolah menengah atas di kota dalam bentuk
peta digital, yang berisi data spasial dan data atribut, menghasilkan informasi tentang

indikator pendidikan dan juga bermanfaat bagi pihak terkait untuk meningkatkan layanan
pendidikan di Kota Salatiga.
