   Synopsis:

  Cooperative is an association of people who join and do business together based on the principle of cooperation, so that they would get greater economic benefits. Its operations are held to be managed and controlled democratically by the members. Purpose Cooperative is to improve social and economic conditions of its members to be better than before joining the cooperative. The role of cooperatives in national economic development, namely: (1) Help increase the income of members, and the prosperity of society; (2) Help improve the ability of individual businesses and the public; (3) Assist the government in providing jobs; (4) Helping improve people's lives; (5) Help the economic development potential members in particular and society in general. In community economic development, cooperatives also play a role as a creator of new markets and sources of innovation. Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia stated that the Indonesian economy is prepared on collective effort based on principle family, with branches production is important for the country and that dominate the life of controlled by the state and used for the maximum prosperity.

  This course introduces student to the process of creating a new business through cooperative as a kind of public economic. In addition to develop knowledge of small medium enterprises they need to launch the business so that it has the greatest chance for success. Many real-world examples of successful cooperatives are presented in the class by groups that are easy to spot based on their observation. These examples allow students to see how small entrepreneurs and cooperatives are putting into practice the concepts that they are learning about theory and practical.

B. Learning Outcomes:

  Upon completion of the subject, students should be able : 1) To develop entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship competencies 2) To stimulate cooperative management skill 3) To ensure success in innovation by encouraging a multi-disciplinary approach to the conception, production, patenting and commercialisation of products or services in contect of cooperative economy.

  4) To provide insights into cconstrains and interactions within the technological, business, global and social environments in cooperative economy and small mediun enterprises.
