This research was classroom Action Research. This action was done in 3 cycles
which consist of some activities : (1) Planning, (Z) Action, (3) Observation and (4)
Reflection. It was done during two months.

Cooperative Learning Model type STAD, (2) to improve and increase of Speaking
English skill ability by Cooperative Learning Model Type STAD, (3) The benefit and

Cooperative Learning was a model of learning that the students learned and

(2) descriptive data (3). verification and catagories data based on Mastery Level 64
which was suitable with the evaluatioo system in KTSP SMAN 2 LubukPakarn.
The result of research indicated that applying of Cooperative Learning Model
which used various method were able to increase the liveliness and ability of students'
speaking in English. It could be showed from cycle io cycle which had a signif1(;3f\t
increasinl ,the first cycle had .&ot 44.12%, the second cycle was 58.82 % and the third
cycle was 82.35 %.
This research can hopefully be an input to English teachers to develop and

choose tbe ideal learning model who was relevant to the students' characteristic

Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas.Pelaksanaan Tindakan
dilakukan sebanyak 3 sikJus dimana setiap siklus terdiri dari beberapa kegiatan yaitu:
( 1) Perencanaan, (2) Tindakan, (3) Pengamatan dan (4) Refleksi. Penelitian dilakukan
selama dua bulan.
Tujuan Penelitian untulc : (l) meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dalam proses
pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD, (2)
memperbaiki dan meningkatkan kemampuan keterampilan bahasa lnggeris dengan
menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatiftipe STAD, (3) melihat manfaat dan kesan para
kooperatiftipe STAD.

Pembelajaran kooperatif adaJah suatu model pembelajaran dimana para siswa
belajar dan bekerja sarna dalam kelompok-kefompok kecil yang terdiri dari 4 s/d 6

motivasi dan penampilan (psikomotor) siswa. Mereka saling

berbagi untuk memahami pelajaran. Hal ini juga terbukti bahwa siswa yang belajar
dengan ternan sebaya mendapatkan prestasi yang lebih tinggi.
Subjek Penelitian diarnbil secara purposive sampling, yang terdiri dari 34 orang
siswa kelas XII IPA 1, 13 orang laki-laki dan 21 orang perempuan. Telalik
pengumpulan data penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan instrument : (1} Lembar
pengamat, (2) angket dan (3) triangulasi. Sedangkan teknik analisis data kualitatif
dengan menggunakan : (1) reduksi data, (2) sajian deskriptif, (3) verifskasi dan data
diperbuat dengan mengk.elompolckan data berdasarkan Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal
(KKM) 64 sesuai denpn sistem penilainn yang berlaku dalam KTSP SMAN 2 Lubuk
Pakam.
Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan modei pembelajaran
kooperatif dengan menggunakan metode yang bervariasi dapat meningkatkan keaktifan
dan kemampuan ketrampilan berbicara bahasa Jnggeris. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari siklus
ice siklus ada kenaikan yang signifikan, sikius pertama 44, 12 %, siklus kedua 58,82%

dan sikhlS keti_ga 82135 %.
Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi masukkan bagi para guru bahasa
lnggeris untuk mengembangkan dan memilih model pembelajaran yang tepat sesuai
dengan karakteristik siswa. Men_gin_gat bahasa lnggeris termasuk salah satu mata
pelajaran yang diuji pada Ujian Nasional dan juga sangat bermanfaat bagi masa depan
siswa yang ingin melanjut keperguruan tinggi.
