Student Retention vs Student Attrition
Student Retention suatu Perguruan Tinggi adalah
Ukuran berapa persentase mahasiswa yang tinggal tetap
di sebuah institusi Perguruan Tinggi sampai mereka
lulus (graduate)
Student Attrition suatu Perguruan Tinggi adalah
Ukuran berapa persentase mahasiswa yang
meninggalkan sebuah institusi Perguruan Tinggi
sebelum mereka lulus (graduate)

Mengapa St udent Ret ent ion Penting?
Kepentingan Institusi dan Mahasiswa,

Orang tua dan masyarakat
Keuangan
Reputasi
Integrity (kejujuran)

Pemborosan uang
dan waktu
Trauma psikologis

Institusi kehilangan revenue
(pendapatan) dari tuition fee;
Hilangnya kesempatan pembinaan
generasi muda (student development)
retention rate menjadi ukuran
reputasi sebuah perguruan tinggi
Ketika perguruan tinggi menerima
mahasiswa
tanggung jawab moral
untuk berusaha mendidik mahasiswa
agar dapat menyelesaikan studinya

What ? student retention versus student attrition.
St udent Ret ent ion suat u Perguruan Tinggi adalah ukuran berapa persentase mahasiswa yang t inggal
tetap disebuah institusi Perguruan Tinggi sampai mereka lulus (graduate).
St udent at t rit ion suat u Perguruan Tinggi adalah suat u ukuran berapa persentase mahasiswa yang
meninggalkan disebuah institusi Perguruan Tinggi sebelum ybs lulus (graduate).
Why? Kenapa student retention penting?
Alasan utama: kepentingan institusi & mahasiswa, orang tua mahasiswa & masyarakat.
Dari sisi inst it usi : - keuangan, reput asi & nilai int egrit y (kej uj uran). Inst it usi kehilangan
revenue/pendapat an dari t uit ion fee, hilangnya kesempat an pembinaan generasi muda (st udent
development). Ret ent ion rat e merupakan ukuran dari reput asi suat u inst it usi perguruan t inggi.
Int egrit y : Ket ika PT menerima seorang mahasiswa unt uk belaj ar di inst it usinya maka PT
mempunyai t anggung j awab moral unt uk berusaha agar mahasiswa t ersebut menyelesaikan st udinya
sampai selesai.
Dari sisi mahasiswa & masyarakat: - Pemborosan uang dan waktu, trauma psikologis ,
DMAIC (Define ----> Measure -----> Analyse -----> Improve -----> Control ) = Manage.
