What are students’ problems?
Learning is challenging
Having low response
Getting Low scores on exam
Unmotivated
Motivation is a factor to determine whether
individual’ goals are high or low (Brown, 2001,
p.75)
What is
motivation?
According to Turner (1995) stated that
motivation to be synonymous with
cognitive engagement, which he defines
as “voluntary uses of high-level selfregulated learning strategies, such as
paying attention, connection, planning,
and monitoring”
Gredler, Broussard and Garrison
(2004) define motivation as the
attribute that moves us to do or
not to do something
Patel and Jain (2008) stated some
importance of motivation:
Having high motivation will create effective
process
Motivation create teaching atmosphere
Students will be active and creative
It can grow students’ interest and inspiration
Music and songs
Orlova (2003) : Using music and songs has
been considered as a methodology in
teaching English as a foreign language.
Lo and Li (1998) : Learning English through
songs provides a non-threatening
atmosphere for students.
