Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Tipe
Kepribadian dengan Public Speaking Anxiety mahasiswa Prodi PR
UNPAD. Desain penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan metode
korelasional. Penentuan subjek sebanyak 164 orang menggunakan
teknik convenience sampling. Data diperoleh dengan kuisioner Big
Five Inventory (BFI) yang dibuat oleh John Srivastava dan kuisioner
public speaking anxiety yang dibuat oleh McCroskey. Hasil penelitian
berupa hasil uji korelasi antara tipe kepribadian dan public speaking
anxiety menunjukkan bahwa dari lima tipe kepribadian terdapat tiga
kepribadian yang berkorelasi dengan public speaking anxiety pada
mahasiswa Prodi PR UNPAD yaitu tipe extraversion (-0,435),
conscientiousness (-0,205) dan tipe neuroticism (0,458). Dua tipe
kepribadian yang tidak berkorelasi dengan public speaking anxiety
yaitu agreeableness (-0,014) dan openness to experience (-0,114).
Penelitian ini memperoleh temuan mayoritas mahasiswa prodi PR

UNPAD memiliki tipe kepribadian agreeableness dan public speaking
anxiety mayoritas mahasiswa PR UNPAD berada pada tingkat sedang.
Penelitian ini me rekomendasikan pihak kampus untuk memberikan
pelatihan-pelatihan yang dapat meminimalisasi kecemasan berbicara
di depan umum yang dialami mahasiswa.

Relationship Between Personality Types to Public Speaking Anxiety

This study aims to determine the relationship between personality type
and public speaking anxiety students of PR UNPAD. The design of
this research is quantitative
with correlational method. The
determination of subject (N=164) in this research used convenience
sampling technique. Data were obtained by Big Five Inventory (BFI)
questionnaire which is made by John Srivastava and public speaking
anxiety questionnaire created by McCroskey. Results of research in
correlation between personality types and public speaking anxiety
suggests that among the five personality types, there are three
personalities type correlated with public speaking anxiety student of
PR UNPAD. There are extraversion (-0.435), conscientiousness (0.205) and neuroticism personality type (0.458). Two types of
personality that is not correlated with public speaking anxiety are
agreeableness (-0.014) and openness to experience (-0.114).This
research findings that the most of UNPAD PR students have the
agreeableness personality type, and the level of public speaking
anxiety students of PR UNPAD are moderate. This research
recommend the university to give a course which can minimalize
public speaking anxiety that occurs in their students.
