  Shining ini mengisahkan tentang sebuah keluarga yang terdiri dari Jack dan Wendy Torrance dan putra mereka, Danny, terjebak di sebuah hotel berhantu. Penulis tertarik untuk menganalisis novel tersebut karena unsur tema dalam novel tersebut padu dan saling mendukung satu dengan lain.

  Untuk menyelesaikan karya ini penulis berlaku dua metode untuk mengumpulkan data, mereka adalah riset Perpustakaan dan internet. Metode penelitian perpustakaan untuk mencari data adalah mengumpulkan beberapa buku yang relevan dengan analisis bagian ini kertas dan

  Penulis menganalisis salinan dari materi dalam buku dan internet untuk referensi. unsur tema dalam novel tersebut khususnya tema pokok (tema mayor), dan tema tambahan (tema minor). Paper ini bemanfaat untuk membuat pembaca mengerti tentang unsur tema dalam novel dan sebagai bahan acuan tentang unsur tema dalam novel. Kesimpulan dari analisis dalam Tugas Akhir ini adalah menemukan unsur tema dalam novel .

   ABSTRACT

Literature is a kind of imaginative writing. It reflects a problem of life done by human

being. Novel is one of literary works that has intrinsic elements. Studying intrinsic

elements in a novel, it means to study life experience of group human being through a

novel. The writer analyzes the theme in novel The shining by Stephen King 's. therefore,

this paper is entitled become:: AN ANALYSIS OF THEME IN King's NOVEL THE

SHINING STEPHEN. The Shining is about a family that consisted of Jack and Wendy

Torrance and their son, Danny, trapped in a haunted hotel. The writer is interested in

analyzing this novel, because the theme in this novel are solid and support each others. To complete this paper the author applies two methods to collect the data, they are library

research and internet. Method of library research for finding data is collect some book

which are relevant with the analysis of this paper and copy part of material in the book

and internet to be reference. The writer analyze the elements of the theme in the novel,

especially main theme (the theme of major), and sub- theme (the theme of minor). This

paper are as theoretically, the reader and the writer will understand about theme in this

novel and practically, as reference for learning and understanding about theme in a

novel.. The conclusions of the analysis in this final Task is to find a theme element in the novel The shining.
