ABSTRACT
The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of flashcard for

of February students’ vocabulary mastery. The treatment was conducted from 15

up to 23 of February 2016 at SMP GUNUNG JATI K EMBARAN. This method used in this research was experimental research. This experimental research involved: experimental class and control class in which each class consisted 26 students. The population of this research was 79 students of the eighth grade on the SMP Gunung Jati Kembaran and the sample were class 8B as experimental class and class 8C as control class. Test was used in collecting data, namely pre- test and post-test and the instrument was tried out to part of population to know is validity and realibility. The test consist of multiple choices items. Statiscal calculation gave 53,96 as the mean score of pre-test and 75,34 as the mean score of post-test in experimental class. Meanwhile, the mean score of pre-test and post-test in control class was 53,69 and 67,61. So, there was improvement from the pre-test and post-test as many of 22,38 in the experimental class and in the control class was 13,92. Furthermore, the data was analyzed by using t-test. Based on the computation, t-test result 3,840 and the t-table was 1,680. It means that t- test result was higher than t-table ( 3,840 >1,680). It could be concluded that flashcard is effective for students vocabulary mastery for eighth grade students of SMP Gunung Jati Kembaran in academic year 2015/2016.
