An area called agropolitan area based on top rated commodities is @e area
which depends on agriculture products and having leading commodities. The area
is not only going to be the supplier of the leading agriculture products but also
going to produce the processed agriculture products into the market. City of Batu
is the rich area for agriculture products and some of them are leading
commodities.

This research purpose is to define the leading agriculture commodities and
its products development, and furthermore, to analyse the feasibility and define
affecting factors for leading agriculture commodities and its products in City of
Batu.
Another purpose of this research is to design decision support G t e m
model for small scale agroindustry development in agropolitan area, in City of
Batu, East Java To identify-potential agriculhke commodities and its products,

this research uses the exponential comparison method ( W E ) while to analjise the
feasibility of selected leading products this research uses Net Present:~alue
(hT'V), PBP and BIC Ratio criterion. Finally, the model is going to provide
alternative for the most prospective investment in agroindustry products. :.
Decision support system for agroindustry development called SPK Agro
which consists of three sub model is composed with Visual Basic -6:O,a
programming language.. The sub models are sub model for leading commodities
preferences, leading products preferences, and agroindustry financial feasibility
study.
The sub model for leading commodities and.leading prohucts preferences
provide solution to define potential commodities and products to be developed
using the exponential comparison method (MPE). In this method, the weighmg
for each criteria and alternatives are given by expertise though specific
be commodity and its product with highest score. Based

apple. And based on the exponential comparison method, the most potential
product to develop is apple cake Cjenang -1).
Furthermore, based on the financial calculation with normal: price
condition, the apple cake industry has NPV for Rp.27 1,930,151.69, BIC Ratio for

2.23 and PBP in 3.49 years. The BEP (break even point) for this industry p a i n s
at 10,971.72 kg of production. From the criterion mentioned, it codd be
concluded that apple cake industry is feasible to develop.
