Show Files
Show Files
• PSH File (Photodex Slide Show File) is the main fi le for you show. This
fi le contains all the settings and options ProShow Producer needs to load, create and play your show. This fi le does not contain any of your show content. ProShow Producer simply links to your fi les and does not alter or move them. This PSH File is what you would save in order to save a show. If the fi le is deleted, your show no longer exists, but the content included in the show remains in its original location.
The PSH File contains a list of all the other fi les used in your show. If you move the PSH fi le, ProShow may not be able to link to your content properly. If you attempt to load a show and the content cannot be found, ProShow Producer will prompt you to locate the fi les in order to load the show prop- erly. If you wish to backup your show, you must backup both the PSH File and the original content used in your show. The collect show fi les feature will auto- mate this process and ensure that all content is copied correctly.
177 Part 3: Features In-Depth in ProShow Producer
• Backup Show Files are created by ProShow Producer to automatically back up your show fi le each time you save your show. This allows you to revert to previous versions of your show at any time. These backup fi les are stored in the same folder as your show. The fi les have the same name as your show, but extensions like .BAK, .BK1, .BK2, etc. BK0 will
be the most recent, while higher numbers indicate older backups. Do not delete these fi les if you would like to revert back to them while working on your show.
• Show Content Files (Images, Music, Video) are the fi les used in your show. When you add content to your show, ProShow Producer does not copy or modify the fi le. ProShow simply notes where the original content is saved on your computer and links to the fi les when they are used in the show. If your original content moves, your show will not be able to link to those fi les. The collect show fi les function copies all your content into a single folder, allowing you to move your original fi les as desired.
• PXC Files (Photodex Cache File) are created when you load a ProShow Producer slide show. The PXC fi le is a cache fi le, which means that ProShow Producer can access it very quickly to load the show that you are working on. This fi le is generated automatically while you work on your show, and it can be deleted at any time. You cannot load a show or recover lost content from a PXC fi le.
• PST Files (Show Templates) are saved show templates. ProShow
Producer’s template feature lets you create reusable show templates from any show. When you save a template, it is stored as a PST fi le in the Templates folder in ProShow Producer’s installation folder.
• Autosave Files are automatically created by ProShow Producer every fi ve minutes in case of a system crash. When autosave occurs, a copy of the current show is saved in the ProShow Producer program folder as autosave.psh. This fi le is cleared when you save the show. Do not delete these fi les if you would like to revert back to them in the event that your system crashes. The Autosave time can also be adjusted in the Preferences, by selecting Edit > Preferences.
• Temporary Files are created and removed by ProShow Producer as you use the application. These fi les are stored in you Windows temporary folder and will usually be named px*.tmp and _px*.tmp. These fi les will be deleted by ProShow Producer when the application no longer needs them. Do not delete these fi les while ProShow Producer is running.
• Slide Style Files are created for each slide style you add or create, and are typically saved in the Styles folder inside the Producer installation folder, with the extension PXS.
