ABSTRACT
This paper is entitled The Strategy of Jack Reacher to Find The True Shooter. Jim Grant, better known by his pen name Lee Child was born in Coventry, England. He is one of the world’s leading thriller writers. His novels consistently achieve the number one slot on bestseller lists in the world, and had been sold to forty countries. All of his books has also considered to be made in a movie series. Especially renowned for One Shot, the book title is based on “One shot, one kill”, the military sniper’s creed. The book opens with a shooter killing five innocent people in a public Indiana square, and leaving behind an unbelievable amount of trace evidence. He is easily tracked down and identified as a retired Army sniper named James Barr. But when James Barr is apprehended, he refuses to talk, saying only, “Get Jack Reacher for me.” Reacher appears on the scene when he hears about the incident on the news. It seems the shooter had a similar killing spree while in the Army and Reacher had him nailed for that crime. However, the killer walked on technicality and Reacher swore he would track the shooter down. The method used is library research and from books and internet as references. In writing this paper, the writer uses method of descriptive research and intrinsic approach.

Kertas karya ini berjudul The Strategy of Jack Reacher to Find The True Shooter. Jim Grant, yang lebih dikenal dengan nama pena Lee Child lahir di Converty, Inggris. Dia adalah salah satu penulis film thriller terkemuka di dunia. Novelnya secara konsisten mencapai jumlah satu slot pada daftar buku terlaris di dunia, dan sudah dijual di empat puluh negara. Semua judul-judulnya sudah dipertimbangkan untuk diangkat ke layar lebar.
Terutama yang terkenal yaitu One Shot, judul buku ini didasarkan pada “One shot, one
kill”, kunci keyakinan dari penembak jitu militer. Buku ini dimulai dengan seorang
penembak yang menewaskan lima orang yang tidak bersalah di alun-alun Indiana, dan meninggalkan jumlah jejak yan luar biasa banyak. Ia pun dapat dengan mudah dilacak dan diidentifikasi sebagai pensiunan penembak jitu militer bernama James Barr. Tapi, ketika James Barr ditangkap, ia menolak untuk berbicara, ia hanya mengatakan, “Bawakan Jack Reacher padaku”. Reacher muncul ditempat kejadian ketika ia mendengar tentang kejadian penembakan tersebut diberita. Kejadian penembakan tersebut terlihat sama persis seperti saat ia di militer dan ia sangat mengutuk pelaku pembunuhan tersebut. Bagaimanapun, seorang penembak pasti mengacu pada sistem teknis dan Reacher bersumpah ia akan melacak dan melumpuhkan pelaku penembakan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode studi pustaka dari buku-buku dan internet sebagai referensi. Dalam penulisan makalah ini, penulis menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dan pendekatan intrinsik.
