PENGARUH CARBON BLACK SEBAGAI BAHAN PENGISI
TERHADAP KEKERASAN (HARDNESS) KOMPON
PADA PROSES PEMBUATAN BAN BERJALAN
(CONVEYOR BELT) DI PT. INDUSTRI
KARET NUSANTARA
ABSTRAK
PT. Industri Karet Nusantara (IKN) merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang mengolah
karet menjadi beberapa produk, salah satunya yaitu Conveyor Belt. Untuk produk
tersebut harus memenuhi standart kekerasan yaitu 65±5 Shore A.
Maka telah dilakukan penelitian tentang pengaruh karbon terhadap salah satu
parameter fisik Conveyor Belt yaitu kekerasan. Variasi karbon yang digunakan adalah
3kg, 4kg, 5kg, 6kg, 7kg, 8kg dan 9kg dengan waktu vulkanisasi selama 60 menit dan
suhu vulkanisasi yang digunakan 1400C. Sifat fisika yang diamati adalah kekerasan
pada kompon karet. Dari perlakuan ini diperoleh hubungan antara variasi karbon
dengan kekerasan adalah berbanding lurus. Jika jumlah karbon yang digunakan
semakin tinggi maka kekerasan pada kompon Conveyor Belt yang dihasilkan juga
semakin tinggi dan jika jumlah karbon sangat rendah maka kekerasan yang dihasilkan
sangat rendah yang tidak sesuai dengan standart kekerasan yang digunakan sehingga
tidak memenuhi standart mutu pada produk Conveyor Belt yang dihasilkan.
Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan terhadap kekerasan Conveyor Belt pada
PT. IKN adalah banyaknya jumlah carbon black yang digunakan agar memenuhi
standart kekerasan conveyor belt yaitu 7 kg dengan hardness 65 Shore A.

EFFECT OF CARBON BLACK AS A FILLER MATERIAL BASED ON
HARDNESS COMPOUND IN THE PROCESS OF CONVEYOR
BELT IN PT. INDUSTRY KARET NUSANTARA
ABSTRACT
PT. Industry Karet Nusantara (IKN) is one of the companies which process rubber
into several products, one of which is the Conveyor Belt. For these products must
meet the standards of hardness at 65 ± 5 Shore A.
Then have done research on the effects of carbon on one physical parameter Conveyor
Belt was hadrness. Variations of carbon used was 3kg, 4kg, 5kg, 6kg, 7kg, 8kg and
9kg with vulcanization time for 60 minutes and the temperature vulcanization used
1400C. Observed physical properties of the rubber compound is hadrness. This
treatment was obtained from the relationship between the variation of the carbon was
directly proportional to the force. If the amount of carbon used the higher the hardness
on the resulting compound Conveyor Belt was also higher, and if the amount of
carbon was very low then the resulting hadrness was very low which was not in
accordance with the standards used hadrness so do not meet the standard of quality in
the products produced Conveyor Belt.
Based on the research that has been done on hardness conveyor belt at PT. IKN was
the large amount of carbon black was used in order to meet the standart hardness was
7 kg conveyor belt with a hardness of 65 Shore A.
