This study concerns with improving grade VIII students’ achievement in writing procedural Paragraph through demonstration method. This research was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the study was grade VIII students of SMP N 2 Babalan which consisted of 35 students. The instruments for collecting data were primary data (writing test) and secondary data (interview sheet, observation sheet and questionnaire sheet). Based on writing scores, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation. In the test I the mean was 64,91, in the test II the mean was 74,57 . Based on interview, observation, and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. Students were active, creative to give their idea, enthusiastic, and interested in writing. The finding of the research showed that applying demonstration method
significantly improved students’ writing achievement.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
A. The Background of the StudyNowadays English is very important for us, because English is one of foreign language. It has been introduced to the educational institutions, from elementary school to university level as an obliged subject to learn. Therefore, the purpose of learn English commonly defined in term of four language skills namely listening, reading, speaking, and writing. In additional, Writing is a way of communicating a message to a reader for a purpose. The purposes of writing are to express one’s self, to provide information for one’s reader, to persuade one’s reader, and to create a literary work. (Troyka 1987:3-4)
We know that Indonesia’s students having an important role on itself -evidence in every lifestyle.Furthermore, for students, writing has become a necessary skill to master since it frequently determines their academic success. Therefore, every student has to learn how to write effectively.Unfortunately, indonesian students’ writing in English still lack. It means that the students are not able to write English well. They can not use the good word, grammar in writing. Hafni (1991:1) declares, “that not many students could write paragraph well. There might be those who give promise of great of expectations for writing in future but too many of them encounter handicaps that hamper the production of intelligible and informative writing”.

In fact, most of students always get troubles when they are asked to write English especially in Junior High School (SMP), they think that writing is a difficult task: therefore they do not interest in writing or in other words the students’ motivation in writing decreases. It is proven from the fact that most of the students cannot write a simple writing. As a result, they always get bad scores in their writing. Students of Junior High School must be able to understand kinds of writing text based on the Curriculum, one of kinds of writing is Procedure text. Procedure text is the text that described how something is accomplished through a sequence of action steps, and also texts that instruct how to do a particular activity e.g. how to use the video, the computer, the tape recorder, the photocopier, the fax, etc.
During Teaching Practice Program (PPL) in SMPN 2 Babalan, the writer observes that most of students were not able to write well andnot confident. They have problems when they write, because some of the students limited mastery on grammar and vocabulary,difficulty in language features, no motivation, and difficulty in arrange sentences. Then they are not aware and confident that writing is a way to express their feelings or ideas, and writing of course encourages students to focus on accurate language used. Furthermore, some of the students’ got writing score still unsatisfactory because the scores were not fulfilled the KKM (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum). The KKMis about 75 point. As the result only 70% of the students could pass the KKM and 30% of the students didn’t pass

the KKM. So that’s why to solve all of the problems, the application of teaching method it is very important.
Here the writer chooses Demonstration Method to solve the problems. Demonstration Method as the teaching method that teach all of the students by demonstrating goods, events, either directly or through the use of teaching aids relevant to the subject matter or material being presented. Demonstrations in the form of writing assignments helped members to build up their fund of knowledge and wisdom about writing. (Rebecca Mlynarczyk : 1997)
From the explanation above, the writer conclud that Demonstration Method is very suitable to be applied to improve students’ achievement in writing procedure paragraph. Because Demonstration Method refers to show the process or ways of working an object, and Procedure text refers to describe how to make something by steps or process. It means that related between Demonstration Method and writing procedure. Then the writer wants to express and explore students’ idea in making the best writing. So as the result, the writer wants to improve the students’ achievement in writing procedural paragraph through Demonstration Method.
B.The Problem of the Study
In relation the background of the study, the problem of this study is formulated the question below:

C. The Objective of the Study
The objective of this study is intended to describe the improvement of the students’ writing skills in writing procedural paragraph through demonstration method.
D.The Scope of the Study
In this study the writer focuses on applying Demonstration Method as the teaching method in teaching writing, especially writing procedural text that improve students’ procedural writing. Procedural text is taught in the Eight year students of Junior High School.
E.The Significance of the Study
Findings of the study is expected to be useful and relevant theoritically and practically.
1. Theoretically, the finding of the study is expected to increase the theories of writing.
2. Practically, the findings of the study are expected to give a feedback to the:

a. This research as preference can improve student’s knowledge and increase student’s interest in learning English with enjoyable in writing procedural paragraph.
b. The English improve their ability to conduct better and the teacher can evaluate clearly what the result of teaching English language uses the Demonstration method in teaching writing.
c. By using this method perhaps the researcher will get solution to evaluate, can develop all information and knowledge and for those who are interested in doing research related to this study. And next time, researcher will choose this method as one of solution to evaluate.

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS A. Conclusion
After analyzing the data, it was found out that there was an improvement
of students’ achievement in writing procedure paragraph if it is taught by using Demonstration Method. It is showed from the mean of the students’ scores in six tests: test I (64.91), test II (74.57), and test III (83.37). It means that the use of Demonstration Method could improve the students’ achievement in writing procedure paragraph.
The observation sheet, interview sheet, and questionnaire sheet, supported
by students’ actives record, indicate that there was an improvement in students’
abilities. It is shown that most of students became more active and it is strengthened by the improvement of their writing scores.
It can be concluded that the application of Demonstration Method could
improve the students’ achievement in writing procedure paragraph.
B.Suggestions
Based on the result of this study, the use of the Demonstration Method
could improve the students’ achievement in writing procedural paragraph. The following suggestions are offered:

1. For other teachers, it’s better to apply Demonstration Method in teaching procedural paragraph because by applying Demonstration Method the students more enjoyable and hopefully the students’ score in writing is higher than before.
2. For the students; they are suggested to use demonstration method in discussing writing material because make them easier to understand and develop their ideas in writing Procedural Paragraph.
3. For all the readers; they are suggested to consider demonstration method because it can improve writing knowledge and they may use the information in this research as a useful input teaching-learning process especially for teaching writing.
