ABSTRAK
Kondisi Istana Maimun yang semakin tidak terawat, serta minimnya kesadaran
untuk menjaga kelestarian sungai membuat Pemerintah Kota Medan mengangkat sebuah
proyek revitalisasi untuk direalisasikan. Proyek revitalisasi ini mengangkat riverfront
architecture sebagai tema besar, sebagaimana maksud dan tujuan utama proyek ini adalah
penataan ulang daerah muka Sungai Deli. Lebih rincinya, tema yang ditunjuk untuk
kawasan Komplek Istana Maimun adalah Urban Heritage Tourism. Tema ini
dimaksudkan untuk mengoptimalisasikan Komplek Istana Maimun sebagai sebuah lokasi
pariwisata bersejarah yang lebih baik
Proyek untuk merevitalisasi Komplek Istana Maimun menjadi sebuah lokasi
pariwisata yang lebih baik membuat perancang memilih Old But Gold sebagai tema
dalam rancangannya. Perancang menggunakan pendekatan arsitektur tropis sebagai dasar
rancangannya, yang akan membuat bangunan yang nyaman bagi penggunanya pada
kondisi iklim tropis di Kota Medan. Desain yang diajukan yaitu memindahkan seluruh
keluarga kesultanan yang bertempat tinggal di daerah perumahan di belakang Istana
Maimun ke bangunan apartemen baru yang akan dibangun. Apartemen ini juga akan
dijual kepada publik. Apartemen ini terdapat 286 unit hunian yang terdiri dari tipe studio,
tipe 2 kamar dan tipe 3 kamar. Selain apartemen, perancang juga merancang sebuah hotel
butik. Hotel butik ini akan meningkatkan jumlah turis yang mengunjungi Istana Maimun,
sehingga mampu memberi pemasukan yang lebih banyak dari sektor pariwisata ini. Hotel
butik ini mempunyai 100 kamar, yang terdiri dari kamar Standard, Deluxe, Executive,
dam Suite Lahan perumahan di belakang Istana Maimun diubah perancang menjadi
sebuah ruang publik, termasuk street cafe dan amphitheater yang berfungsi sebagai
tempat aktivitas pertunjukan kesenian tradisional Melayu. Ruang publik ini juga akan
menjadi area rekreasi bagi warga Kota Medan.

ABSTRACT
The degrading condition of Maimoon Palace, and the lack of awareness to
preserve the river made the local government to come up with a revitalization project.
This project promotes riverfront architecture as its main theme, as the goal of this project
is to redesign the riverfront area of Deli River. More in depth, the theme for this
Maimoon Palace Complex's project is Urban Heritage Tourism. This certain theme's
intention is to optimize Maimoon Palace to become a better heritage tourism location.
A project to turn the Maimoon Palace Complex becomes a better tourism location
made the designer to choose Old But Gold as the theme of his design. The designer chose
tropical architecture approach as the basic of the design which will make a comfortable
building for the users against the tropic climate in Medan. The proposed design is to
relocate the Sultanate's families that reside at the back of Maimoon Palace to a new
apartment building. This apartment also will be sold for public. This apartment will has
265 unit, which consists of studio type, 2 bedroom type and 3 bedroom type. Besides
apartment, the designer also designed a boutique hotel. This boutique hotel will increase
the number of tourists that visit Maimoon Palace, and will generate greater income from
tourism sector. This hotel will has 100 guest rooms, which consists of Standard room,
Deluxe room, Executive room, and Suite The hosing land at the back of Maimoon Palace
changed into a public space, which includes street cafe and amphitheater for traditional
performances. This public space also will be a recreation area for Medan's citizens.
