DISCUSSION
Infant period is the most important penod ol growth and development because in this
period the growth ard development of infants is fastest and rvould be the basis of next
groxlh and development. -I'he result of the research shou,s that from 145 infants assessed.
36 rnfants (21.8o/oi) get a development disorder and based on the analysis, the average age

those infants is age 12-36 months, 44,1Yo. Even thougtg the development status of

The result of the research assumes that male is tend to get

of siblings could also influence the developnrent
process r.l,hen there is no balance on the
distribution of food suppll'rvrth the members of famill' (infants).
Indonesia as the development country, the enrironment factors can be the causes of
developmental disorders
of children due to the lorn social economic condition (poverty),
lack of the knou4edge of rts people about the developmental process, especiallv on the
fisherman tamilies that most of them have a lor.v social economic condition Those factors
are like the enr.ironment of nurture, stimulation, and birth history and so on. These factors
are usual in the mind of Indonesian people and they do not realize that they have significant
roles in the developmental process of children (Soetjiningsih, 1998)-

While the developmental process on infants is normal. and onll' ,1.8% n'ho get

developmental delay especially on the language and social skill. Some reasons that cause
these problems such as a bad stimulalion from the famill, and a wrong nurture. This is
because
of lack of knowledge and most of the mothers are sen'ants and uork part trme to
help the fathers. so their time that should be for nufl.unng their children is not fulfilled n'ell.
And sornetimes, they entrust their children to neighbors and as the result- their social skills

The result of the research assumes that male is tend to get
a great attenlion than female in the development process as he would be the patron in the
famili. This distinction mar be caused
b1' the
different nurture style. However, the member
of siblings could also influence the developnrent
process r.l,hen there is no balance on the
distribution of food suppll'rvrth the members of famill' (infants).
