ABSTRACT

THE STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON READING MATERIALS USED IN

READING CLASS

(A Descriptive Survey Study of the Fourth Semester Students of English

  

Department of FKIP UMP in Academic Year 2016/2017)

This research was aimed at finding out the students’ perception about

  reading materials that are taught in class and the dominant factor perception that is found in semester fourth toward reading class. This research used descriptive survey study as a method of research. In this case, the fourth semester students of English Education Department at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto, which consisted of 109 students and 60% of them or 65 students were taken as a sample randomly. The researcher used questionnaire and interview in order to collect data. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the majority of students in this study have a good perception toward reading material used in reading class and the dominant factor perception that was chosen by the students was relationship between teacher and students that belonged to external factor with the percentage 81%.
