CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ LANGUAGE LEARNING
ANXIETY AND THEIR SCORES IN SPEAKING CLASS

Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to find out whether there was any
correlation between students’ language learning anxiety and their scores in speaking
class. The participants of this research were 70 students of English Department of
Satya Wacana Christian University who were taking Speaking course. The students
were asked to fill the questionnaires about speaking anxiety. The questionnaire was
adopted from Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) developed by
Horwitz (1986).The data of the research were also taken from the students’ final
scores in the speaking course. The result of the study shows that there was no
correlation between students’ language learning anxiety and their scores in speaking
class.
