Abstract
Between January 2003-December 2005, 278 patients with brain tumors were managed in Hasan
Sadikin Hospital, Faculty of Medicine Padjadjaran University, Bandung. There were 114(41%)
male and 164(59%) female, with dominant age group around 31-40 years old (31,3%).
Supratentorial tumors were found in 217(78%) cases and infratentorial tumors in 61(22%) cases.
The most common brain tumors were meningioma 94(33,8%) cases and glioma 92(33,1%) cases.
There were 19(6,8%) patients with hydrocephalus associated with supratentorial tumors, and
52(18,7%) patients associated with infratentorial tumors. All patients treated with
Ventriculoperitoneal shunt before definitive surgery. Surgery were performed in 195(70,1%)
patients. Outcome in this study, we found the mortality rate were 37(13,3%) patients.
