THE PATTERN OF INITIAL FLUID INTAKE GIVEN IN ADULT DENGUE FEVER PATIENTS WITH WARNING SIGNS IN RUMAH SAKIT HASSAN SADIKIN.
ABSTRACT
Indonesia is a tropical country situated in the south-east asia continent. In
the land of tropics, it is a optimal habitat for the Aedes. aegypti to breed. In
Indonesia, there is dengue infection cases reported annually. The management of
the dengue infection is therefore emphasized to counter the continual dengue
infection. The pattern of initial fluid infusion is hence the objective of this
research.
This research was a prospective study for 2 months length. All the dengue
patients who fulfilled the criteria will be selected. The patients’ data will be
obtained through the physical examinations and laboratory tests done by the
doctor-in-charge into medical record patient who were treated in Internal
Medicine Floor 2 Ward.
From the study, it was found that the pattern of initial fluid infusion
depends on the body weight of the patients.
After the analysis of all the data from the research, it can be concluded that
the higher initial fluid infusion is given is patients with higher body weight. It can
be also concluded that the patients with lower BMI will have a higher chance to
contract dengue fever compared to individual who has a normal BMI.
