Tumbuhan sasaladaan (Peperomia pellucida [L.] Kunth.) adalah salah satu
tanaman yang secara ilmiah telah terbukti memiliki berbagai aktivitas
farmakologi. Untuk mengetahui keamanan dari penggunaan tumbuhan sasaladaan
(Peperomia pellucida [L.] Kunth.), dilakukan pengujian toksisitas subkronik yang
bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai efek toksik, efek akumulasi,
toleransi, serta kelainan yang terjadi di organ atau sistem organ pada pemberian

berulang pada tikus putih jantan dan betina. Metode yang digunakan dalam
penelitian ini adalah pemberian ekstrak etanol herba sasaladaan dosis 1000 mg/kg
BB dan pengamatan berat badan pada tikus setiap hari selama 90 hari, dan
pengamatan parameter hematologi, parameter biokimia klinik, indeks organ,
indeks tukak lambung, dan histopatologi hati dan ginjal pada hari ke-91. Hasil
dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa pemberian Ekstrak etanol herba sasaladaan
dosis 1000 mg/kg BB tikus tidak memberikan pengaruh yang berarti terhadap
berat badan, parameter hematologi, parameter biokimia klinik, indeks organ,
indeks tukak lambung, dan histologi ginjal tikus jantan dan betina, terdapat
perbedaan pada histologi hati tikus jantan dan betina antara kelompok kontrol
negatif dan kelompok uji namun tidak menunjukkan adanya kerusakan berat.
Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak etanol herba sasaladaan dosis 1000
mg/kg BB tikus tidak memberikan efek toksik subkronis.

Sasaladaan (Peperomia pellucida [L.] Kunth.) is one of the plants that has been
scientifically shown to have various pharmacological activities. To find out the safety
of the use of sasaladaan (Peperomia pellucida [L.] Kunth.), subchronic toxicity

testing is done which aims to obtain information about the toxic effect, the effect of
accumulation, tolerance, and the abnormalities that occur in the organ or organ
system on repeated administration in male and female white rats. The method used in
this study is administration of the ethanol extract of herbs sasaladaan dose 1000 mg /
kg in rats and observation of body weight each day for 90 days, and observation of
hematology parameters, clinical of biochemical parameters, organs index, the index
of peptic ulcers, and liver and kidney histopathology in day-91 . The results of this
research note that the administration of ethanol extract of herbs sasaladaan dose
1000 mg / kg rats did not give significant effect on body weight, hematology
parameters, clinical biochemical parameters, organ index, the index of peptic ulcers,
and renal histology of male and female rats, there differences in liver histology
between control negative group and test group of male and female rats but did not
show any damage. Can be concluded that the ethanol extract of herbs sasaladaan
dose 1000 mg / kg rat give no subchronic toxic effects.
