ABSTRAK
Penelitianinidilatarbelakangiolehrendahnyakemampuansiswadalammenyimakmateri verbal
yang terjadipadakegiatanpembelajaran IPS di kelas VII-A SMP Negeri 10
Bandung.Tujuandilakukannyapenelitianiniyaituuntukmemperbaikipermasalahanrendahnyake
mampuanmenyimaksiswaterhadapmateri
verbal.Rendahnyakemampuanmenyimakinimerupakansuatumasalahdalam
proses
pembelajaran
yang
sangatberpengaruhterhadapkeberhasilansuatupembelajaran,
karenapemahamansiswaterhadapmateri yang disampaikandiawaliolehkegiatanmenyimak
yang
baik,
danbegitupunkegiatanmenyimaktidakakanberjalandengan
optimal
tanpaadanyakegiatanmendengarkan yang baik. Desainpembelajarandenganmenggunakan
media
audio
recordingmenjadialternatif
yang
dipiliholehpenelitidalamupayamemperbaikirendahnyakemampuansiswatersebutdalammenyi

mak verbal. Media inidipiliholehpenelitikarenamelihatmanfaatdari media audio recording
yang
sangateratkaitannyadalammelatihaspekkemampuanmendengarkan.Dalampelaksanaannya,
penelitianinidilakukandenganmenggunakansuatumetodePenelitianTindakanKelas
(PTK)dariKemmisdan
Taggart,
yang
setiapsiklusnyaterdiridaritahapantahapansepertiperencanaan,
pelaksanaantindakan,
observasitindakan,
danrefleksi.Penelitianinidilaksanakansebanyaktigasiklus,
dansetiapsiklusnyaterdiridariduatindakan.Kegiatanpenelitianterkaitdengan
“PeningkatanKemampuanMenyimakterhadapMateri Verbal dalamPembelajaran IPS” yang
telahdilakukanmelaluitahapan-tahapantersebutmemperolehhasil
yang
Baik.
Hal
tersebutterlihatdari data yang diperolehpadasetiapsiklusnya, yaknipadasikluspertama,
kemampuansiswadalammenyimakmateri
verbal

barumencapaikategori
“kurang”,
kemudianpadasikluskeduamengalamipeningkatanyang signifikan, sehinggahasil yang
diperolehmenjadimasukkedalamrentangnilaikategori
“Baik”,
danpadasiklusketiga,
kemampuansiswadalammenyimakmateri verbal meningkatkembali, akantetapipeningkatan
yang
terjaditidaksetinggi
yang
terjadipadasikluskedua,
sehinggahasil
yang
diperolehpadasiklusketigamasihberadapadarentangkategori
yang
samayaitu
“Baik”.Dengandemikian,
dapatdiambilkesimpulanbahwapenggunaan

ABSTRACT
This research is motivated by the lack of ability of the students in listening to verbal material
that occurs in social studies learning activities in class VII-A SMP Negeri 10 Bandung. The
purpose of this study is to fix the problem lack the ability to listen to students' verbal
material. Lack of listening skills is a problem in the learning process that greatly affect the
success of a learning because students' understanding of the material presented preceded by
good listening activities, and as well as listening activities will not run optimally without
good listening activities. Instructional design using audio recording media into the alternative
chosen by the researchers in an effort to improve the students' lack of ability in listening to
verbal. Media was selected by researchers because they see the benefits of audio recording
media that are closely related in the training aspect of the ability to listen. In practice, this

study was conducted using a method Action Research (PTK) from Kemmis and Taggart,
which each cycle consists of stages such as planning, action, action observation, and
reflection. This study was conducted three cycles, and each cycle consists of two measures.
Research activities related to "Upgrades Listening to the material in the Verbal Learning IPS"
has been done through these stages to obtain the results of the Good. It is seen from the data
obtained in each cycle, the first cycle, students' skills in listening to the material verbal
reached the category of "less", then in the second cycle has increased significantly, so that the
results be entered into the range of the value of the category of "Good ", and in the third
cycle, the students' ability in listening to verbal material increased again, but the increase was
not as high as that happens happens in the second cycle, so that the results obtained in the
third cycle is still in the range of the same category of" Good ". Thus, it can be concluded that
the use of audio recording media in social studies learning can improve students' listening
skills to the verbal material.
