ABSTRACT
This paper is entiled The Analysis of Metaphors Found in Westlife’s Song Lyrics
discusses about type and meaning of metaphors that exist in the lyrics of the song
Westlife. In this paper the authors wrote the paper used the method of literature,
collect some data from some books, and the internet. The writer collectsthe data
from the lyrics of Weslife’s song, select metaphors in the song lyrics, classify the
metaphor, and interpret the metaphors.In the song’s lyrics of Westlife, the writer
found 22 metaphors that consist of 3 similies, 16hyperboles, 3 personifications.
The hyperboles is the most dominant type of metaphor and followed by simile,
and personification.

Kertas karya yang berjudul The Analysis of Metaphors Found in Westlife’s Song
Lyrics ini membahas jenis dan makna metafora yang ada ada lirik lag Westlife.
Dalam menulis kertas karya ini penulis menggunakan metode kepustakaan,
mengambil data dari beberapa buku, dan internet. Penulis mengumpulkan data
metafora yang terdapat pada lirik –lirik lagu Westlife, menyeleksi metafora dalam
lirik lagu, mengelompokkan metafora dalam jenisnya, dan menginterpretasikan
metafora. Dalam lirik-lirik lag Westlife, penulis menemukan 22 metafora yang
terdiri dari 3simile, 16hiperbola dan 3personifikasi. Metafora dalam bentuk
hiperbola muncul sebagai jumlah yang paling dominan dan diikuti oleh
personifikasi dan simile.
