ABSTRACT
Marpaung, Helli B. 208222027. The IUocutionary Acts of Naruto Sbippuden
Movie 3"1nberited the Will of Fire". A Thesis. Faculty of Languages and
Arts. State University of Medan. 2012.

The objectives of this research were to find out the five types of illocutionary acts,
namely: Representative, Directive, Commisive, Expressive, and Declarative and
the dominant one used in Naruto Shippuden Movie 3"Inherited the Will of Fire".
This research was conducted by using quantitative descriptive design. It took 1009

utterances taken from the subtitle of Naruto Shippuden Movie 3 "Inherited the
Will of Fire" which were released in 151August 2009. The result of analyzing found
five types of process were used in Naruto Shippuden Movie 3 "Inherited the Will
of Fire", they were: Representative, Directive, Commisive, Expressive, and
Declarative. There were 1009 illocutionary acts in 1009 utterances. The findings
of data analysis showed that the total numbers of process from the five types of
illocutionary acts were: Representative is 375 (37,16%) utterances. The total
number of Directives is 467 (46,28%) utterances. The total number ofCommisive
is 56 (5,55%) utterances. It means that Directive is the most dominant type of
Illocutionary Acts used in Naruto Shippuden Movie 3 "Inherited the Will ofFire".
