ABSTRACT
The paper entitled “The Description of Alay Language Found in Twitter”
discusses about Alay language in Twitter. The Objectives of the study are to find the characteristic of Alay language in twitter status, to discribe the meaning of vocabulary use Alay language characteristic found in twitter, to find the dominant characteristic of Alay language used in twitter status, and to describe the reasons of people use Alay language. This study were conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected from the twitter status in two separate weeks. The data was analyzed by the characteristic of the newest Alay language. The findings found that there are five characteristics of Alay language that are usually used in the status and they are unusual acronym found in 5 status (9,88%), put additional letter found in 10 status (22,08%), put capital letters among the letters in a word found in 2 status (3,76%), Alay terms found in 19 status (38,45%), replace letter with number found in 5 status (9,88%). Sometimes the twitter user combine the style and the percentation of the status with the style combination is 16% ( 8 status). Using Alay term is dominantly used. There were found 138 vocabulary use Alay language characteristic found in twitter. There are five reasons of people for using Alay language, namely personal or habitual attraction, social attraction, media attraction, trend attraction, and self-identity attraction.

Kertas karya yang berjudul “The Description of Alay Language Found in Twitter” ini membahas tentang bahasa Alay yang ditemukan pada status di twitter.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik bahasa Alay dalam Twitter, untuk mengetahui makna dari kosa kata bahasa Alay yang digunakan di twitter, untuk menemukan karakteristik mana yang paling dominan digunakan pengguna bahasa Alay di twitter, dan untuk mendeskripsikan alasan orang mengunakan bahasa Alay. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang dikumpulkan dari status twitter dalam waktu dua minggu yang terpisah. Temuan menemukan bahwa ada Lima jenis bahasa Alay yang biasanya digunakan dalam status mereka yaitu, penggunaan singkatan kata 5 status (9,88%), memasukan huruf tambahan 10 status (22,08%), menempatkan huruf kapital diantara huruf dalam kata 2 status (3,76%), istilah Alay 19 status (38,45%), menggantikan huruf dengan angka 5 status (9,88%). Terkadang pengguna twitter menggabungkan gaya dan presentasi status mereka. Dan terdapat 8 status (16%) yang mengkombinasikan gaya tulisan di status mereka. Ada ditemukan 138 kosa kata bahasa Alay yang digunakan di twitter. Ada lima alasan orang untuk menggunakan bahasa Alay yaitu dikarenakan faktor kebiasaan, pengaruh dari perkembangan sosial, pengaruh dari perkembangan media, bahasa gaul yang lagi trend saat ini, dan dikarenakan bahasa Alay identik dengan bahasa anakmuda.
