A Case Study of Fourth Grade Students’ Perception in Teaching Vocabulary Using Songs

Abstract
The writer conducted a study to find out fourth grade students perception in learning
vocabulary using children songs. The participants of the study were eight students of fourth
grade in a public school: four students were male and four students were female. The writer
started the research by giving teaching materials. The data were collected and analyzed in
qualitative analyses. It was conducted in which all the participants were individually interviewed
which were set to draw the fourth graders’ perception toward the use of children songs. This
study found that generally students had positive perceptions toward teaching vocabulary using
songs. The result showed that the children songs improved the students’ vocabulary.
